Background

UN House located in Nur-Sultan is managed by the Common Premises Team that is responsible for provision of maintenance services and support to UN Agencies located in the House. Within the Common Premises infrastructure, the ICT Unit is responsible for provision of ICT support to UN Agencies. Under direct supervision of the UNDP ICT Associate the ICT Assistant provides daily technical support to users of information management tools and technology infrastructure, assists in maintaining LAN system, printing, copying, and computer equipment. 
The ICT Assistant promotes a client-oriented approach in provision of all services.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides support in primarily ICT support to the tenants of UN Common Premises and on ad-hoc basis and cost recovery basis to agencies located outside of the UN House;
  • Provides support in installation of the computer, printing, copying equipment for the UN agencies and Common Premises;
  • Supports in installation of the computer software;
  • Supports in conducting minor repairs of the hardware located in the UN house;
  • Provides an assistance in procuring the ICT equipment for the UN agencies and the Common Premises;
  • Conducts market research required for procurement of the ICT equipment and software;
  • Assists in implementing and promotion of the Green ICT Technologies;
  • Contributes to effective implementation of the UN corporate information management and technology standards, follows the guidelines and procedures for the technology environment;
  • Contributes to business processes mapping and development of internal standard operating procedures (SOPs);
  • Contributes to preparation of the results-oriented annual work plan for the ICT unit;
  • Carries out other tasks as required.

  • Ability to perform a variety of standard specialized and non-specialized tasks and work processes that are fully documented, researched, recorded and reported;
  • Ability to review a variety of data, identify and adjust discrepancies, identify and resolve operational problems;

  • Strong experience in client support, such as, ICT Help Desk and User Support;
  • Ability to provide input to business processes re-engineering, elaboration and implementation of new systems, demonstrates innovative approaches.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
  • Secondary education or specialized certification in information technologies or technical science.
  • Bachelor’s degree is an advantage.
Experience:
  • At least 3 years (or 2 years with Bachelor’s degree) of relevant work experience with an ability to operate and maintain network, computer, telecommunication and other office equipment; 
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, LAN/WAN/VLAN and peripheral equipment, MS Windows 7-10 operation systems, MS Office 2007-365, E-mail technology and protocols, web-based applications;
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, office printing & copying equipment.
  • Knowledge of development for web is desirable;
  • UN experience is an asset.
Language Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of English, Kazakh and Russian.
