STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Language: Fluency in Portuguese and basic Knowledge of English.

Experience in commercial or humanitarian transportation or warehousing  sectors is desireble;

Experience working with corporate systems (databases or Microsoft software) also recommended.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  1. Under direct supervison of the Logistics Officer or delegated authority, provide support to Logistics operation and activities, follwing the standards processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  2. Support the planning and implementation of innovative supply chain operations, initiatives and services to ensure timely, cost-effective Ccash Based Transfer (CBT) operation in Cabo delgado.
  3. Provide technical advice and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation initiatives analyzing best practices from the humanitarian and private sector.
  4. Build productive partnerships and collaborate with counterparts in the key supply chain functions to ensure an integrated supply chain approach to food assistance and cross-functional operational alignment.
  5. Assis in processing retailers claims in a timmely manners and ensure that those are in full complince with WFP standard procedures.
  6. Assist in monitoring the invnetory management process to track trends and account for the inventory status from the source to the beneficiary.
  7. Assist in close monitoring the retailers performance, in particular regarding the quality of commodities rendered to the benefiaicaires.
  8. Implement all loss mitigation procedures in place and report on all loses incurred.
  9. Do other logistics related tasks as required
JOB PURPOSE

Following the March 2020 security unrest in several districts of cabo Delgado province, WFP operations in this province increased in response. IDP response operation are still underway and expected to continue for most of the first half of 2021. Therefore the need for a Logistics Assistant to support CBT activities.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Headquarters (HQ), Regional Bureaux (RBs) and Country Offices (COs) and Area/Field Offices. Job holders report to Logistics Officer, a Head of Unit,  or the designate.
At this level, job holders are expected to take responsibility for completion of a range of processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines/practices for all assistance modalities for both WFP and logistics common services. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other support staff.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

• Experience using corporate systems to monitor ongoing shipments, pipeline information, insurance claims, and food stock.
• Experience analysing data (on commodities, funds, etc.) and drafting reports.
• Experience in measuring service providers’ performance against set KPIs.
• Experience in assisting the preparation of contract documentation.
• Experience in providing technical business support in corporate systems.
