This internship is located with Knowledge Management Team (KMT) within the Capacity Development and Operational Training Service (CDOTS)/Department of Operational Services (DOS).
DOS provides end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to the operating entities across the Secretariat, including other departments, offices-away-from-headquarters, field missions, and regional commissions.
CDOTS provides operational training, including training on enterprise resource management system and leads as the main facilitator of business process management activities in the UN Secretariat.
The KMT is responsible for the provision of knowledge management services to the global Secretariat. The premier service provided by this team is the Knowledge Gateway, an organization-wide platform for internal guidance-sharing on administrative and operational support topics, which is part of the integrated Policy and Guidance Framework, a joint initiative of DMSPC. Other activities include the development and implementation of a guidance development framework for operational support, supporting partners in the development of specialized communities of practice, knowledge tools and products, and facilitating group processes aimed at fostering a knowledge-sharing culture.
The internship is for a maximum period of six months. Due to COVID-19, candidates should be prepared to work remotely (telecommute) for the duration of the internship. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours).
The Intern will work under the supervision of the Team Leader, KMT/CDOTS/DOS.
Under the supervision of the Team Leader for KMT, the intern will perform the following
• Convert administrative and operational support guidance in to short, informative and appealing videos to promote learning and socialization of guidance developed by Subject Matter Expert Offices using tools such as Adobe Premerie Pro, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Captivate, Animaker or Doodly or similar.
• Convert administrative and operational support guidance in to eye catching, succinct, informative and illustrative graphic products such as inforgraphics, media cards, cheat sheets, flow charts using software such as Adobe Illustration, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Venngage or similar tools.
• Convert MS word based administrative and operational support guidance in to interactive PDFs, Mobile Apps and other creative mediums.
• Innovate ways to disseminate and socialize administrative and operational support guidance hosted in the Knowledge Gateway.
• Participate in Knowledge Gateway outreach activities
• Contribute to the maintenance of the Gateway Assistant (Bot) by developing question sets for new administrative and operational support guidance in the Knowledge Gateway.
• Perform outreach and coordination activities related to the Knowledge Gateway quarterly content review including reviewing and identifying content within the Knowledge Gateway which may be out of date and reaching out to focal points to coordinate have content updated accordingly.
• Participate in meetings with partners and clients to determine their multimedia needs related to administrative and operational support guidance.
• Other tasks as assigned.

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements (A or B):
(a) be enrolled in, or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in, or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
- Be proficient in standard office automation equipment (e.g. computer, scanner, printer, etc.) and software systems (e.g. Microsoft Windows 10 or similar; Microsoft Office or similar,
- Be familiar with cutting-edge technology and tools and/or have experience with social networking and collaboration platforms.
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of
differing opinions and views.
- Preference will be given to applicants with an educational background in Graphic Design, Website Design and Content Management, Video Production, Public Information, Communications, Multimedia Studies, Publishing, Marketing, Business Administration.
