UNICEF Bulgaria is seeking a communication expert for programme delivery support to contribute to the strengthening the capacity of the communication and advocacy efforts.

How can you make a difference?

Main objectives:

  • Strengthening of the advocacy, communication, campaigning force for children, working with partners to promote UNICEF work in Bulgaria;
  • Retain and use innovative approaches to develop even further UNICEF position as a leading voice, advocate and brand for every child in Bulgaria;
  • Support in delivering programmatic results and communicating in an engaging way UNICEF’s work for children globally and in the country;
  • Ensure that children's rights are at the forefront of the business development agenda, as well as to leverage core business assets in support of UNICEF's programmes, and to report on results for children;
  • Support for all programmes, multisectoral, cross-cutting programmatic intervention by communicating and advocating.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Relevant university degree, preferably in communication, international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, social work, international law or other relevant area;
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in communications and advocacy;
  • Knowledge and expertise in the area of rights, particularly child rights and communication;
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills;
  • Respect for cultural diversity and human rights;
  • Willingness and availability to travel across the country;
  • Knowledge of the UN system and UNICEF mandates is an advantage;
  • Excellent command of English.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
