Who are we?

 The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. Using a protection of human rights framework, DRC has mainly focused on Somalis who are displaced by conflict. Programmers include protection, livelihood, food and NFI distribution, water and sanitation, and advocacy amongst others. DRC Yemen has been providing relief and development services in Yemen since 2008. DRC has mainly focused on refugees and migrants displaced by conflict and natural disasters.

DRC, through its specialized business unit, Danish Demining Group (DDG) aims to recreate a safe environment where people can live without the threat of landmines, unexploded ordinances and small arms and light weapons”. These goals can be effectively advanced through cooperation and joint action with other organizations as well as with the integration of operations and programs with its sister organization, DRC.

About the job

To handle receipt/dispatch and verification of commodities in order to maximize the quality of warehouse operations and mitigate losses, and to support the best storage management practices in compliance with DRC warehouse standards and established guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Under the responsibility of the Supply Chain Emergency Team Leader and the direct supervision of the Supply Chain Assistant who is in charge of the warehouse, the Storekeeper will perform the following tasks:

Warehouse Management

  • Adhere to DRC stock management procedures (records, filing, and identification), and ensure all documentation of receipt, issuance, and dispatch of goods are maintained properly as per DRC warehousing policies and guidelines.
  • Manage all stocks of DRC Yemen (projects, office and general supplies).
  • Ensure proper identification of all received/issued goods (quantity, quality, and delivery), and update the Warehouse Register Book regularly for every receipt or issuance of goods without any delay.
  • Ensure correct preparation of deliveries.
  • Adhere to DRC physical stock management requirements (organization, cleaning, ventilation).
  • Follow-up with special attention on the expiry date of stock especially for food and hygiene items, and notify the concerned department at least two months before expiry date.
  • Conduct weekly physical inventory of stocks and ensure that Bin/ stock cards created, updated, and are accurate.
  • Compile monthly inventory/stock report for Log Base.
  • Assist in equipment and stock inventory when needed.

About you

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • At least six (6) months experience in the field of logistics and warehousing, preferably with International Non-governmental organization
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Experience with computers - Microsoft Word and Excel plus email
  • Ability to work independently in a result-oriented multi-tasking and multi-cultural environment and manage conflicting priorities
  • Ability to keep clear and concise records.
  • Additional qualities: the ability to multi-task, ability to handle pressure well, ability to improvise, flexibility, adaptability to transitions.

Required qualifications:

Education :

  • College Diploma or certificate in Logistics, Warehouse management or general administrative activities

Languages:

  • Good written and spoken English.

We offer

DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract till December 31, 2021, renewable dependent on both funding and performance.

Workplace Aden with field visits.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment. This position will be placed at Band (J).
