ABOUT THE JOB

  • Supervise members in team;
  • Deliver technical support and guidance to team;
  • Ensure the quality of the planning, implementation and follow up of all technical aspects of the sector activities being implemented by DRC;
  • Develop and maintain good relations with the persons of concern, relevant stakeholders and other humanitarian actors, to support adequate implementation and coordination of DRC’s sector activities

Sector responsibilities: Advocacy for the rights of displaced people in their context of displacement, individual protection assistance, legal counselling, land & property rights, sexual and gender-based violence prevention, registration services for the internally displaced and refugees, monitoring of rights and rights awareness-raising, facilitation of return and repatriation processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft reports detailing human rights’ violations and issues related to protection/SGBV and efforts to mitigate or eliminate them
  • . Collect information on IDPs/returnees population movements, forced return and arbitrary arrest;
  • Support protection related advocacy initiatives
  • Ensure on collecting information from community and conducting of RPA in area.
  • Engage the men and women of the community in discussions around women’s rights and gender based violence;
  • Collecting weekly and monthly reports of staffs and preparing weekly and monthly reporting to line Managers
  • Perform other duties, as needed or assigned by line manager

Management

  • Lead and manage the team (including people planning, performance, well-being and development);
  • Ensure effective planning and quality implementation of the sector/support activities;
  • Ensure monitoring of area and Team
  • Asses the daily quality;
  • Provide technical support and inputs and Reporting;
  • Ensure Protection team’s compliance with DRC-DDG values and principles, code of conduct and safety procedures.

Programming & Operations

  • Ensure efficient and effective program implementation while following the budget and work plan;
  • Participate in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/reports to technical unit ad AM.

Coordination and representation

  • Attend relevant cluster/working group meetings hosted by other NGOs and UN agencies that address protection and human rights issues of concerned population;
  • Represent DRC at meetings and other relevant technical coordination meetings;
  • Ensure integration with other DRC sectors.

Project development

  • Develop project plans and Tools.
  • Develop projects tools;
  • Ensure on Project implementation and reporting;

Logistics/Finance

  • Support the monitoring of financial commitments and expenditures against budgets and provide timely feedback on budget follow-up;
  • Plan and coordinate proactively logistics and movements of staff from and to different operational areas;
  • Initiate procurements and ensure their execution;
  • Ensure distribution plans are prepared and shared with logistics in a timely manner.
  • Perform other relevant tasks as required

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies: 

  • Minimum 3 years of management experience at a mid to senior level, preferably with experience in the field of humanitarian response and refugee protection working for an international NGO, UN agency, relevant ministry, or local authority;
  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience in sector area working for an INGO;
  • Proven management skills and a competence in people management;
  • Strong knowledge of human rights and Afghan national laws;
  • Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures;
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Full professional proficiency in English;
  • Field experience.

Education/qualifications:

  • University degree in law or related field.

Languages:

  • Strong written and spoken English
  • Fluent Dari and Pashto
