Director of Business and Investor Activation

Climate Catalyst is a new international organisation seeking to make a distinct and important contribution to tackling climate change — the greatest challenge facing humanity. 

The climate crisis demands action now. Climate Catalyst has high ambitions to accelerate action by working creatively with the private sector, civil society and others who share our goals to secure the actions we need from national governments. Climate Catalyst will operate behind the scenes to convene campaigns and deliver wider and lasting benefits to the climate struggle, helping a diverse network of allies including the private sector to reflect on how to best to achieve decisive action.

We are at the beginning of our journey. Alongside other senior roles, we are currently seeking a strategic leader and experienced collaborator to serve as our inaugural Director of Business and Investor Activation. This Director will enable Climate Catalyst to be a trusted ally for businesses and investors who want to secure government policy frameworks that drive low carbon investment and the rapid transition we need. They will design and deliver a strategy to achieve this, building a team that can co-create effective influencing plans on our chosen priorities. They will work closely and flexibly with the Chief Architect, fellow Directors, and other stakeholders to identify potential issues for future campaigns.

Our ideal candidate will be ambitious for impact, and will embrace our ambition and our commitment to work as a convenor. We are seeking leaders with demonstrable experience in assembling diverse coalitions to achieve common goals and working with businesses on climate change issues. This Director will possess a deep understanding of the relationship between businesses, investors, and public policy formation. They will have extensive global networks in the climate community and expertise in the politics of climate change and networks of influence on climate change policy.

Most importantly, we need a Director who will embody our values of courage, collaboration, diversity, and learning, devising an ambitious strategy while adapting their approach and plans in response to new developments and insights. Reporting to the Chief Architect, the Director will be strategic, low ego, and passionate about mobilising actors to achieve greater impact for climate action.

The Director of Business and Investor Activation will play a key role in shaping Climate Catalyst into the future and as such, the role will evolve with the organisation.

This is a remote organisation and as such will require a Director with experience in leading and managing a diverse and highly motivated remote team across time zones, with international travel as necessary. Strong communication skills and a high level of fluency in written and spoken English is essential; fluency in a second language is highly desirable.
