The Office of the Quartet (OQ or Office) focuses on increasing Palestinian economic and institutional
development and empowerment as a support towards achieving a two-state solution. 1 It plays a catalytic
role in advancing work that is of a potentially transformative nature.
The Office works with a range of actors, including the Palestinian and Israeli parties, the international
community and the private sector to help realize progress in five key sectors: energy, water,
telecommunications, rule of law and movement and trade. Progress in each of these sectors benefits
Palestinians and provides the foundation for economic growth.
This is accomplished in the following five ways:
a. Advocating for sector-wide strategies and solutions along with key partners (as reflected in the OQ’s
biannual reports to the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee);
b. Playing a catalytic role in furthering key projects which have a multiplier effect and which are
essential to support private sector growth;
c. Acting as a neutral broker between the parties;
d. Identifying solutions to major challenges in each sector that are technically, financially and legally
feasible;
e. Facilitating meaningful progress by convening, informing, supporting and mobilizing key stakeholders
to achieve progress on the ground. This is accomplished with other bodies that also play a convening
role, such as UNSCO, the Netherlands, Norway, the World Bank and the Local Aid Coordination
Secretariat.

Functional Responsibilities

To primarily provide support to the office Admin and sectoral Teams in end user helpdesk. The IT
support assistant- Intern will work closely with the IT officer who will assign him/her the tasks required
in support of other OQ Team.

The Position's primary focus is on the areas of computer operations, user and desktop support
(hardware and software), and helpdesk. Performs a variety of information technology support duties to
ensure smooth delivery of technology services. Monitors, operates, or coordinates and assists others in
the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals in order to achieve desired results.
Updates supervisor on status of support work.
The IT Assistant-Intern will provide support in the following areas:
● Assist in maintaining all ICT equipment and applications for OQ offices in Jerusalem & Ramallah.
● Assist in setting up and configuring the end use requirement.
● Assist in the installation and maintenance of the communications equipment for wired and
wireless networks.
● Assist in configuring email and mobile devices.
● Assist in the daily and routine IT support. Installation, operation, and maintenance of computer
systems and other technologies, such as communication systems.
● Tracking inventory.
● Ensure the end user system is running smoothly by providing System administration and
maintenance, ensure data protection and provide end-user support.
● Follow up on any connection requirements.
● Maintain a high degree of client support for all queries.
● Follow up with different suppliers when needed.
● Work closely and reporting to the IT officer.
The IT support assistant-Intern may be asked to perform any other duty or task as requested by the IT
Officer.
The work is of a highly confidential nature and the IT support assistant must maintain the highest
standards of confidentiality.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

 The candidate must be currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a Bachelor/Master’s Degree in
a Computer Science / information technology or have graduated from such studies within three years prior to the application date of the internship

Work Experience:

Fresh graduate with technical experience in Information Technology or computer
science.

Skills and Abilities:

● Networking support experience.
● Experience in Outlook and mobile support.
● Hands on experience in Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office solution,
systems installation and configuration.
● Good understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration.
● Good communication skills.
● Team player.

Language Requirements:

Fluent in Arabic and English is required.
