Jhpiego is hiring for the position of Senior Program Officer – RMNCHA for its flagship health systems strengthening project NISHTHA. The incumbent will be based in New Delhi and will provide technical and managerial expertise to shape the strategies and activities for providing technical assistance to the intervention states under NISHTHA project. The incumbent will provide technical and programmatic support in the areas of RMNCHA with a special focus on Child Health and Family Planning. The position will report to the Advisor, RMNCH+A- NISHTHA.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Team leader and state government counterparts to develop, implement, monitor state specific project activities including development of roadmaps, work-plans, activities, reports etc.
• Liaison and support with the Government at the National and State level as per the need to develop technical expertise in the area of RMNCH+A
• Support for the designing of project’s RMNCH+A strategy, activities, and approaches that are evidence-based and aligned with Government of India’s and donor’s priorities
• Provide technical expertise in RMNCH+A activities of NISHTHA and support integration of RMNCH+A services in Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs)
• Support in strengthening of Family Planning services under the ambit of Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC).
• Provide timely and adequate technical guidance on strengthening availability of FP commodities at HWCs, improving service quality and effective implementation of priority FP interventions as per NISHTHA’s work plan
• Building capacities of primary healthcare teams (from curricula development to their implementation) for providing high quality RMNCH+A services in HWCs to the communities
• Undertake needs assessment and landscaping of RMNCHA models in primary healthcare space especially with regards to vulnerable populations.
• Develop job aids, training materials, capacity building tools, monitoring framework, communication tools etc. for RMNCHA activities.
• Provide technical expertise in reviewing, developing the technical contents for communication materials, job aids and tools for the community, healthcare providers and front-line workers
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time for smooth functioning of the program and to achieve program goals.

Abilities/Skills:

• Experience and demonstrated ability of working with government health programs, counterparts and systems.
• Proficiency in writing technical and programmatic documents.
• Technically proficient with up to date skills required for the assigned task.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines.
• Proficiency in computers – MS Office.
• Ability to travel up to 40% of time
• Ability to join early would be an added advantage.

Qualifications/Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelors in Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurveda, M.Sc. (N) with valid registration is desirable. PG Diploma/ Masters in Public Health or Public Health Management is a must
• At least 5-8 years of similar experience of working with government counterparts and development partners
• Prior experience of working in primary healthcare settings is desirable
• Experience in innovative and effective RMNCH programmes will be desirable
• Familiarity with the Indian health system, newer initiatives in health sector and relevant government policies/ strategies particularly NHM, Ayushman Bharat Health & Wellness Centers, Family planning Program etc.
• Experience of supporting large scale project implementation
• Experience in working with a team of diverse professionals
