As Avionics Systems Expert, you will contribute to aeronautical products safety by providing essential and unique expertise to influence and permit decisions in initial airworthiness certification and continuing airworthiness of avionics at aircraft level. In the position of PCM ETSO – Avionics, you will oversee, lead and co-ordinate activities for initial and continuing airworthiness projects related to the approval of avionics equipment. In addition, you will support other core technical activities of the Agency. Your main accountabilities as Avionics Systems Expert or PCM ETSO - Avionics will be to: n As part of an EASA team of experts, support or coordinate certification projects for the determination of the applicable certification basis, the definition of the level of involvement by selecting compliance demonstration items and the agreement of applicants’ certification programmes; n Verify the compliance demonstrations provided by applicants for the domain of expertise in cooperation with the project certification manager and experts of other disciplines; n Participate in the development of interpretative material, special conditions or equivalent level of safety to cover new technologies, unconventional uses and proposals for novel compliance demonstration; n Ensure investigation and/or coordination of in-service occurrences and defects in the domain of expertise, and acceptance of corrective actions to maintain acceptable safety standards as well as follow-up of those actions wherever necessary; n Participate to, or provide advice on, the development of new airworthiness and operational requirements, industrial standards, including relevant parts of EASA Certification Specifications and advisory and guidance material; n Provide inputs and support to Design Organisation Approval activities, as well as to the other EASA Directorates as necessary; n Represent the Agency externally when requested to do so. For the post of PCM ETSO - Avionics, in addition to the above, your accountabilities will include: n Manage the operational safety oversight process associated with certified ETSO equipment related to avionics systems and decide promptly on appropriate corrective actions to ensure the continuing airworthiness; n Act as focal point towards foreign authorities for the relevant ETSO equipment.
