The External Relations (ER) department is comprised of four complementary functions: Private Fundraising, Mobilization & Marketing, Policy & Advocacy and Operations & Analytics. To enable IRC to deliver our Strategy100 commitments, the ER department has established a results-oriented new approach that will improve our ability to raise diverse and flexible funding, while raising our profile and influence. The ER team is international, with more than 10 offices globally.

The IRC’s International Philanthropy and Partnerships (IPP) unit, a part of the External Relations (ER) department, leads on the organization’s engagement with corporations, foundations and international philanthropists globally. IPP raises funds from global private foundations, corporate foundations and from business areas including corporate social responsibility, marketing, sponsorship, employee giving and match giving. The IPP team matches institutional funder interests with the extensive programs globally.

Job Overview

IPP is looking for a driven, creative, collaborative and results-oriented professional for the Senior Officer, Corporate Partnerships role!

The Senior Officer will manage corporate clients primarily in the financial services and health & pharmaceutical sectors that support the IRC through financial and other resource commitments. The Senior Officer will build tailored strategies for collaboration with companies, focusing on sustained revenue generation and humanitarian impact through innovative, outcomes-based partnerships.

The Senior Officer will report directly to the Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships, and work closely with the Senior Director of Global Corporate Partnerships, as well as others from the IRC’s senior leadership, including the President and CEO, VP of IPP, and program and communications colleagues to develop engagement strategies for corporate clients. The person in this role will collaborate with the Global Partnerships & Philanthropic Services (GPPS) team to ensure effective cultivation and stewardship of partners. This person will also partner with our Crisis Response, Recovery & Delivery (CRRD) and Resettlement, Asylum & Integration (RAI) teams, at Headquarters and around the world, maintaining engagement with and knowledge of programs and acting as a liaison between funder and program.

The person who fills this role will have excellent skills in building and growing dynamic, high-value corporate partnerships, and demonstrate passion for the IRC's mission, nuanced understanding of private sector fundraising, and dedication to the organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

Major Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the health/pharma & financial services team and Associate Director to establish funding goals and benchmarks for a portfolio of partners in support of IRC’s Strategy100 with a focus on diversified funding streams, growing unrestricted funds, and expanding influence;
  • Lead engagement with the health & financial services team’s highest value partners alongside a team of two other Officers, with a collective goal of $8.5M in cash and in-kind in Fiscal Year 2022;
  • Lead on developing a series of high-impact, solutions-focused partnerships that serve our beneficiaries across the world, while offering companies innovative outlets to deploy philanthropic and core-business solutions in support of our humanitarian agenda;
  • Utilize comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the health and financial services sectors’ values, interests, and expectations for partnering in order to successfully lead cultivation efforts to establish new relationships and deepen existing robust partnerships;
  • Design and implement creative outreach, solicitation and management strategies for partners within the portfolio, leading on new business pitches, proposal submissions, and partnership discussions;
  • In collaboration with the Associate Director, represent the Corporate Partnerships team in cross-departmental meetings to ensure a corporate partnership perspective is included in IRC strategy and planning;
  • Work with Associate Director and events colleagues to craft and execute strategic donor group gatherings to position IRC as a forward-thinking humanitarian leader that encourages collective impact;
  • Develop strategy to effectively involve IRC senior leaders in high-level partnership solicitations and relationship management, including developing briefing materials, agendas, background research, and managing follow-up;
  • Strategize for and execute the involvement of Board members and Advisors in relationship-building and client management activities;
  • Monitor and analyze philanthropic and other specific industry trends so that market opportunities may be capitalized on, ensuring that our partnership proposition remains compelling and competitive;
  • Establish a robust client servicing plan for each portfolio partner, including identifying key SMART performance indicators, ongoing planning and reporting procedures to optimize quality of service, income growth, and donor satisfaction;
  • Work with GPPS to synthesize complex programs into clear, compelling presentations, proposals, and reports for private sector audiences;
  • Maintain accurate, clear, and up-to-date CRM records for the portfolio to ensure comprehensive tracking/reporting on IPP’s client ecosystem.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Minimum five years’ experience of front-line corporate fundraising and partnership development experience in a dynamic, fast-paced nonprofit environment;
  • Dedication to supporting our DEI efforts through development of multi-faceted partnerships that benefit a wide range of clients with varying backgrounds;
  • Experience working with health/pharma and/or financial services business sectors;
  • Experience raising and stewarding gifts of $500K+ through complex corporate partnerships, including in-kind and pro-bono support;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including: speaking to and writing for donors; crafting compelling partnership proposals and pitch materials;
  • Experience working toward, and meeting, ambitious individual revenue goals and performance indicators, as well as participating in financial projections, reporting, and scenario planning;
  • Proven, consistent track record of maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with staff at all levels;
  • Ability to translate an organization’s strategy and objectives into operational delivery and, at times, respond quickly to changes in short-term priorities;
  • Extensive knowledge of the vital support processes required to deliver effective institutional funder relationships, and the ability to identify and build new ones;
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to devise creative solutions to complex problems and issues;
  • Dedication to fundraising for international development, human rights, social justice and US immigrant community causes;
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally, and ability to work evenings and weekends for urgent matters.
