Background Information - Job-specific

The Position's primary focus is on the areas of computer operations, user and desktop support (hardware and software), helpdesk. Performs a variety of information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services. Monitors, operates, or coordinates and assists others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals in order to achieve desired results. Updates supervisor on status of support work.

Functional Responsibilities

The IT Assistant will provide support in the following areas:

  • Assist in maintaining all ICT equipment and applications for OQ offices in Jerusalem & Ramallah.

  • Assist in setting up and configuring the end use requirement.

  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of the communications equipment for wired and wireless networks.

  • Assist in configuring email and mobile devices.

  • Assist in the daily and routine IT support. Installation, operation, and maintenance of computer systems and other technologies, such as communication systems.

  • Tracking inventory.

  • Ensure end user system is running smoothly by providing System administration and maintenance, ensure data protection and provide end-user support. 

  • Follow up on any connection requirements.

  • Maintain a high degree of client support for all queries. 

  • Follow up with different suppliers when needed.

  • Work closely and reporting to the IT officer.


The IT support assistant may be asked to perform any other duty or task as requested by the IT Officer.


The work is of a highly confidential nature and the IT support assistant must maintain the highest standards of confidentiality.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

High School Diploma is required . Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology or related field may be accepted and can substitute some years of experience.

Work Experience:

5 years or less( depending on academic credentials) of technical experience in Information Technology or computer science.

Language Requirements:

Fluent in Arabic and English is required. 

Skills and Abilities:




  • Networking support experience is highly desired.

  • Experience in Outlook and mobiles support  is highly desired.

  • Hands on experience in Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office solution, systems installation and configuration  is highly desired.

  • Good understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration  is highly desired.

  • Good communication skills  is highly desired.

  • Team player  is highly desired.

Contract type, level and duration

The contract for this position will be issued by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) on behalf of its Client the Office of Quartet pursuant to an agreement between both parties whereby the successful candidate's contractual rights and responsibilities will be managed by the Office of Quartet (OQ) office and not by UNOPS.
Contract type: Individual Contract agreement

Contract level: Local Support ICA 5
Contract duration: 3 MONTHS, subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds and satisfactory performance
