We support individuals who have developmental delays, who are on the Autism Spectrum, may have physical disabilities or some mental health issues in the lower mainland. The right candidate should have experience with Behavior Management, Personal Care, as well as Medication Administration and at least 1-2 years of experience with various disabilities listed above.
We are in need of casual supports who have a BCDL Class 4 or 5 with reliable vehicles for Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond and North Vancouver. Our available positions:
- North Vancouver - Permanent Part Time - Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm
- North Vancouver - Permanent Part-Time - Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm (2wks on and 2wks off)
- North Vancouver - Permanent Part-Time - Wednesday and Friday 10am to 2pm
- North Vancouver - Permanent Part-Time - Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm
- North Vancouver - Temporary Part-Time - Monday and Thursday 7am to 3pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am to 3pm
- Richmond - Permanent Part-Time - Friday to Monday 3pm to 11pm
- Richmond - Temporary Part-Time - Friday and Saturday 11pm to 7am
- Surrey - Temporary Part-Time - Sunday and Monday 11am to 7pm (Visitation Coordinator)
- Burnaby - Saturday and Sunday 7am to 3pm, Monday to Wednesday 9am to 3pm
If you don't have a Class 4 BDCL, Strive would be happy to reimburse the cost for one successful passing of the written exam, a physician’s exam, and a road test. The Class 4 license must be acquired within three (3) months of employment.
We have casual positions available with opportunities to grow within.
As of May 15, 2020, in order to mitigate the risk of the transmission of COVID 19 among persons in our care, patients, residents and also the staff in our long term care facilities, an order under the Public Health Act was enacted to limit movement of staff between long term care facilities.
While this order is in place, staff are limited to working in only one (1) private long term care hospital (facility), licensed long term care facility, registered assisted living facility, stand-alone extended care hospital, or provincial mental health facility.
The ideal applicant shall possess:
- Knowledge and experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health concerns, and behaviours

- An understanding of the needs and barriers faced by individuals with various abilities
- Command of English language with ability to communicate effectively and complete daily documentation
- Ability to understand and follow health care plans, personal protocols, schedules, and activities
- Ability to follow policies and procedures, including health and safety policies
- An understanding of the difference between creating independence vs. creating dependence
- Competence to safely accompany/transport individuals to appointments and activities in the community
- Knowledge and experience with community resources, integration, and teaching life skills
- The physical ability to perform all the duties required of the position
Job qualifications include (if you do not have all of these, but demonstrate you are a good fit for the position, Strive may be able to assist you to acquire some of these requirements):
- Class 4 or 5 BC Driver’s License required and clean driver’s abstract
- Preferred, BC Care Aid Registered Number
- Minimum of 1-year experience (or combination of education and experience)
- Positive Behaviour Management
- Criminal Record Check
- Negative TB test
- First Aid and CPR
- Mandt Certificate
- Food Safe Certificate
- COVID-19 Vaccination
