The IRC Yemen began its programs in October 2012. Currently IRC Yemen is operating in eight governorates in the south and north of Yemen through direct programming and through a local partnership in Health, WASH, Nutrition, Economic Recovery Development, Education, Child Protection, Gender and Women Protection and Empowerment. These sectors are responding to food insecurity, cholera and other humanitarian needs within the displaced populations

Scope of Work:

He/She will be responsible for ensuring accurate and quality delivery of Psychosocial support interventions through the SHLS and FMD sessions for children and caregivers, take full responsibility for the running of the CP center in Aden, integration with other IRC sectors and partners and work closely with the CBCPC to support children harmed or at risk of harm

Job Summary

This position will deliver the IRC’s Safe Healing and Learning Space (SHLS) and Families Make the Difference (FMD) approach, oversee the day to day running of the CP center in Aden. He\She will facilitate skill-building sessions. He\She will coordinate with the CP Assistants (younger children) and incentive workers in delivering these activities.

WORKING RELATIONS:

The SHLS Officer will directly supervise four CP Assistants, work closely with the CP incentive workers, Community Based Child protection Committee and report directly to the Senior CP Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead the implementation of SHLS and FMD sessions in the CP center, host communities and camps.
  • With support from the CPC and Snr Officer will mentor, and coach the facilitators responsible for co-facilitating sessions.
  • Conduct initial assessments to identify the risks and needs of children and caregivers in the program location.
  • Work closely with other project staff to identify children, female, and male caregivers to participate in SHLS and FMD learning activities as well as facilitate feedback meetings with children, caregivers, female, and male community partners, and share feedback with supervisor.
  • Provide psychological first aid and support to children and caregivers who disclose experiences of violence and refer them to relevant services (i.e., case management team).
  • Ensure that all activities under his/her supervision are conducted to align with the obligations of the IRC beneficiaries, staff, and other partners under his/her jurisdiction, ensuring system of quality supervision, including Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) minimum standard and SPHERE standards
  • Provide input for weekly and staff activity reports.
  • Write quarterly safety audits/ mapping reports
  • Work with the CPIMS team to produce verified data for reporting.
  • Regularly coordinate internal team meetings.
  • Complete weekly reports on project activities, including detailed feedback from participants of the curriculum sessions and proactively, share lessons learned with the team and CP Coordinator and Snr Officer as well as debriefing sessions and share recommendations.
  • Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety of field teams.
  • Promptly report concerns or incidents to IRC management and coordinate with community leaders, other external parties as required to maintain/improve the security environment for IRC programs.
