Communications Coordinator
Overview
CIFOR-ICRAF is currently seeking to fill several positions in The Asia Continental Program (ACP) for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for Trees Outside Forest in India (TOFI) program. The TOFI Program will run for five years – November 1, 2021 to October 31, 2026) in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. Initial appointment will be for a period of one year with a probation period of 3 months for Local Positions. Contracts will be renewed every year during the 5 years’ duration of TOFI, based on performance, timely delivery, and continued relevance for the position. All these positions will be under CIFOR-ICRAF umbrella, and while contributing to TOFI’s implementation; hired staff will also be actively engaged in overall CIFOR-ICRAF program in India. The positions may continue beyond TOFI subjected to availability of placement and funding.

Duties and responsibilities
Summary of responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of TOFI’s broader Communications Strategy in general and its Branding and Marking Plan in particular.
- Oversee or directly design and deploy strategic communication products for enhancing TOFI’s delivery, out-scaling and resource leveraging, including those which contribute to building strategic relationships with key government institutions, private sector partners, USAID, and other stakeholders.
- Work closely with the program partners, keep track of outreach campaigns, events and activities, and support the design of engaging marketing and public relations materials.
- Ensure efficient and effective documentation and information management, updating relevant internal information management systems/platform in a timely manner.
- Lead in contributing to writing, rewriting, and editing material in English, Hindi and local languages of project site for institutional branding and promotional material and produce publications (as needed) together with scientist involved.
- Coordinate proactively with CIFOR-ICRAF Communications Outreach and Engagement team to ensure project activities are effectively promoted at regional and global levels.
- Any other communication work related with the project as assigned by the CoP.
- Attend to any other work assigned by CIFOR-ICRAF.
Education, knowledge and experience
- Master’s degree in relevant discipline in communication, media, journalism or related field.
- At least 5 years of prior experience in donor-funded projects and or/development programs.
- Excellent oral and written skills in English and Hindi is required.
- Demonstrated capacity of handling multimedia platforms and social media accounts.
- Strong skills in conceptualization, communication, and reporting.
- Develop and maintain partnerships and working relationships with multiple stakeholders in the communication field.
- Exceptional abilities in written and relational communication skills (e.g. speaking and active listening), especially in a cross-cultural environment.
- Good skills in use of standard software packages (MS Office).

- Excellent interpersonal skills an ability to work in a multicultural environment and across different task teams.
Terms and conditions
- This is a Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) position.
- Duration of the contract: One year renewable contingent upon availability of funds, continued relevance of position and performance of the incumbent.
- CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currency commensurate with skills and experience.
- CIFOR-ICRAF reserves the right to modify the number of positions, locations, timeline or cancel the hiring as necessary.
- Based on the performance/ competencies and needs, hired staff may be relocated to other project locations upon mutual consent.
