Mission and objectives

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. As the international community has committed to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition by 2030, one in nine people worldwide still do not have enough to eat. Food and food-related assistance lie at the heart of the struggle to break the cycle of hunger and poverty. Context

The position will be based in Mombasa Kenya, Urban Response Programme and it will be for the period of at least 12 months 2022. A very operational and dynamic office involving warehouse management / port, land transport and Urban response, cash distribution and nutrition. We are looking for talented individuals with an interest in supply chain and programming activities. Mombasa is a coastal city of Kenya along the Indian Ocean. It is Kenya’s second largest city and has an extra-large port and an international airport. The city remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kenya and is also usually frequented by UN personnel for both work and holiday. The area’s security remains generally stable.

Task description

• Support the implementation, monitoring and reporting on the Urban Response activi-ties which include cash and nutrition programmes. • Provide technical support to the County Government on Urban Response pro-grammes which include commodity management, accounting and food safety and quality. • Manage day to day coordination with other units and County Government to ensure Urban Response activities are implemented as planned. • Support County Government on data analysis and review of reports for the Urban Response • Plan and coordinate meetings between different stake holders on the Urban Response programmes • Coordinate monthly Cooperating Partner (CP) reports with the County Government • Coordinate and organize workshops for service provision with other UN agencies and NGOs. • Participate in the in-house trainings on the various supply chain and programming sub-jects • Perform other related duties as required. Results/Expected Outputs • Gained results-based skills in supply chain activities and programming activities • Understanding in Shipping / Maritime industry. • Conclude and assist in modernizing our internal processes, reporting and data collection • Obtained skills in planning, coordination and partnering both with the internal and external stakeholders.
