Our team and mission
The publication of ESA Agenda 2025 outlined the challenges for Europe’s role in the space economy. The Directorate for European, Legal and International Matters was recently established to help progress the 5 ambitions of ESA Agenda 2025, supporting the implementation of a plan for Europe to maintain and expand its excellence in space, for the benefit of everyone on Earth and in Europe in particular.

Field(s) of activity/research for the traineeship
Under the authority of the Director of European, Legal and International Matters, you, as a YGT, will provide analytical, administrative and project support, including:
- supporting analysis of various policies relating to space including benchmarking of policies from national, European and international actors;
- supporting the development process for the ESA Accelerators, designed to bring Europe’s space ambitions to the next level;
- supporting the organisation of workshops and events involving key stakeholders in European space.

Education
You should have just completed, or be in the final year of a university course at Master’s level in economics, political science or other related fields of study.
Additional requirements
- Knowledge of the specificities of international organisations, and science- and technology-driven organisations like ESA.
- Knowledge of ESA’s institutional framework and its position and status as an international organisation.
- Knowledge of advanced PowerPoint presentation techniques would be an asset.
You should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to work in a multi-cultural environment, both independently and as part of a team.
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
During the interview motivation and overall professional perspective/career goals will also be explored.
