School-to-School International (STS) is a nonprofit organization based in Pacifica, California committed to improving the lives and learning of girls and boys worldwide through thoughtful research, practice, and partnerships. For more than a decade, we have partnered with individuals, government ministries, nongovernmental organizations, private foundations, and research institutions to improve the quality of children’s learning through educational research and integrated support solutions for children in primary school. We have worked in more than 40 countries across the globe providing assistance in research and evaluation, curriculum and training, and policy and planning.
Role: The Accounting and Operations Coordinator supports the operational functions of School-to-School International (STS), including accounting, administration, and compliance. This position has primary responsibility for accounts payable, account receivable and management of the employee credit card program. This position supports the month and yearend financial close, project management and reporting, and participates in the annual audit. In addition, the Accounting and Operations Coordinator supports implementation of and adherence to organizational and funder policies and procedures and provides guidance to other staff on compliance requirements as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Accounting
- Review payables for compliance with organizational and funder policies, procedures, and requirements
- Process payables and receivables
- Prepare project invoices
- Manage cashflow monitoring
- Assist with QuickBooks entries, especially for field office financial data
- Assist with generation of monthly P&L reports
- Provide banking support and complete monthly bank reconciliations
- Manage corporate credit card accounts
- Assist with weekly timesheet submissions and approvals
- Manage expense reporting system, including expense software, expense report submissions, and interface with QuickBooks
- Prepare monthly labor allocations for entry into QuickBooks
- Prepare Executive Director’s and President’s expense reports
- Participate in Board Finance Committee meetings and prepare and disseminate meeting minutes
- Operations
- Assist with staff requests and issues about the work environment, functioning of workstations, and common areas
- Assist with maintaining equipment/office and resolving issues with relevant vendors
- Assist with oversight of Operations document retention system (copies, scanning, filing, etc.)
- Assist with opening, distributing, and sending mail
- Assist with fielding occasional incoming calls and voice mails
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or other related field
- A minimum of three years of relevant work experience required
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- QuickBooks experience
- Willingness to learn organizational policies and procedures
- Willingness to become versed in applicable funder rules and regulations, particularly the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), USAID Acquisition Regulation (AIDAR), federal cost principles, and 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance
- Proven organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and quick learner
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
- Demonstrated initiative, versatility, integrity, and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel up to 25% time
- Experience with international development or working in developing countries a plus
U.S. work authorization required; STS is not able to sponsor employment visas

Location: This position is based out of School-to-School International’s San Francisco Bay Area office in Pacifica, CA.
Salary: At least $57,000 - $67,000/year.
