The Secretariat of the WTO is seeking to fill the position of Multimedia Officer in the Audio-visual and Social Media unit of the Information and External Relations Division (IERD).
The selected candidate will receive a two-year Fixed-Term appointment. Given that the incumbent is on a special leave without pay,further contract extensions will depend on the performance of the selected candidate as well as on the continued availability of the post in the light of organizational needs.

General Functions
Under the general supervision of the Head of the Audio-visual and Social Media unit, the incumbent will be required to produce multimedia content for the WTO website and social media platforms, with a strong focus in video production and virtual/hybrid high-visibility events, contributing to the WTO’s visibility and audience’s understanding of trade issues. Regular duties would include the following:
Produce high quality, accessible and engaging videos, from concept to script and post-production, including addition of graphics and subtitles, following the unit’s workflow.
Support IERD's needs in virtual meeting environments, particularly outreach activities such as high-profile public events conducted by IERD, press briefings and outreach activities, among others, and manage live transmissions on social media.
Participate in video and audio projects about the WTO, trade and related topics; operate other video recording and teleprompting equipment as needed, including for the Director-General and Deputy Directors-General.
Operate the WTO studio for recordings, live events for senior officials and TV satellite interviews using a Tricaster TC2 Elite, EVO ShareBrowser, SNS EVO storage and related equipment.
Support the head of unit in technological improvements for the studio and video workflow, and in ensuring upkeep of the studio and its broadcast and editing equipment.
Support planning and execution of audio-visual production, including by acting as photographer for events and individuals, and designing visual assets and video elements as needed.
Manage WTO's YouTube accounts and assist in managing other social media tasks, including by writing posts about trade and the WTO in English, accurately and in a language adapted to the medium.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Advanced university degree in audio-visual studies, communications, media studies or a related discipline. Alternatively, a university degree in the aforementioned subjects, combined with relevant work experience could be considered in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Knowledge and Skills
Technical skills:
- Advanced knowledge of FCPX and Adobe Premiere for video editing; Audition for audio editing.
- Advanced storytelling, writing and scripting skills.
- Experience with Tricaster TC2 Elite, EVO ShareBrowser, Adobe Suite, Canva, Trint and similar tools.
- Excellent understanding of video dissemination processes including compression, social media platforms, livestreaming, broadcasting, video meeting platforms.
- Understanding of trade and the work of the World Trade Organization.
- Ability to produce animations in After Effects and graphics in Illustrator or Photoshop are an advantage.
- Good sense of visual and audio design.

Work Experience:
At least two years of experience in video production, broadcast journalism, studio operation or in a related field. Recent hands-on experience with Tricaster Elite is a requirement. Experience in an International Organization setting is highly desirable.
Languages:
Fluency in English at a level corresponding or equivalent to a minimum of C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), including the ability to draft accurately, concisely and rapidly for diverse audiences, is required. Good knowledge of French (at least B1 according the CEFR) is also required. Knowledge of Spanish would be an asset.
The language skills of shortlisted candidates will be assessed as part of the selection process.

For non-entry level positions, the position may be offered at a lower grade if the selected candidate does not fully meet all the required qualifications.
The WTO may use various communication technologies such as video or teleconference for the assessment and evaluation of candidates. The recruitment process may also involve the use of various forms of testing, assessment centres, interviews and reference checks.
