Your team

Within the Directorate Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre , the "Technical Systems" service is responsible for the maintenance, development and improvement of software products which support MUAC in achieving its safety and capacity targets and sustain the growing air traffic demand. It provides also resources to various projects in its area of expertise and maintains technical hardware.

Your role

Your role will be to:

  • Collaborate with MUAC developers and apply the tools, technologies and processes for the DevSecOps implementation in the organisation.
  • Implement and configurate DevSecOps tools.
  • Provide maintenance support to DevSecOps pipelines for IT infrastructure automation and software development stacks, and make suggestions for further improvements of the corresponding technologies, documentation, etc.
  • Plan and perform lifecycle and security updates for the tooling used in DevSecOps pipelines and coordinate the planning for updates with users.
  • Identify DevSecOps implementation improvements and discuss with management and users.
  • Liaise with colleagues in the MUAC IT security cell to find a common solution for (cyber) security issues and cyber security design.
  • Support colleagues in performing corrective and preventive maintenance of systems hosted on Linux and in maintaining the IT infrastructure, server environment, virtualisation and related technologies.
  • Contribute to further automation of system administration tasks by applying administration and orchestration tooling.
  • Contribute to DevSecOps projects and studies, keep product documentation up to date and carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant area (Computer Science, Engineering, etc.). A relevant Bachelor’s degree would be an asset.
  • Ideally, a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience focussing on automation.
  • Internal candidates should check on the intranet to see what level of in-house experience is considered equivalent to educational qualifications where appropriate.
  • Experience in Linux administration and Virtualisation.
  • Experience in writing Linux scripts (Bash, Perl or Python).
  • Knowledge about declarative languages, like Ansible, for automation.
  • Knowledge how modern software is developed, this to assess what impact tooling updates trigger.
  • Motivation and commitment to keep updated in the area of expertise.
  • The following would be an advantage:
    • Knowledge of HCI and Enterprise Architecture.
    • Knowledge of Kubernetes.
    • Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and its tooling around it.
    • Knowledge of Cyber Security.
    • Knowledge of Agile planning tools (e.g. Atlassian).
  • Technical writing skills in English.

  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English at level C1/C2.
    The levels relate to the Common European Framework of References for languages (CEFR).

  • Duration of appointment: This is an appointment for a determined period of 5 Year (s). It could be extended up to a maximum of 9 years or converted into an undetermined contract.
  • Internal candidates
    If selected, the person will keep their current type of appointment duration (undetermined or determined).
    The internal staff member with a determined contract will be offered, in principle, an appointment for 5 Year (s) with a maximum total duration of 9 years.
  • The successful candidate shall be appointed at the grade in the function group and to the type of post indicated in the vacancy notice, or, if a group of grades has been published, in principle at the basic grade.
  • In case of reserve list: Suitable candidates, however not selected to fill the post, will be placed on a reserve list for similar functions. The period of validity of reserve list is 1 year from the closing date of applications .
