Positions will be located in Przemysl, Korczowa, or Korscienko, Poland.

 

Starting Date & Initial Contract Details

Start of employment from March 2022 to June 2022. Full time or part time, overnight shift.

Role Overview

Provide key messages and resources to new arrivals from Ukraine so that they can live a safe and dignified life in transit and upon their onward destination. Uphold Medair values and contribute to the organisation of the Ukrainian-speaking volunteer network, ensuring that new arrivals from Ukraine receive the necessary information and available resources to keep them safe in new locations.

Project Overview

Medair arrived in Poland at the end of February 2022. The Emergency Response team will be providing protection, NFI, and other assistance within Poland as well as providing WASH, Health, NFI/Shelter, and other emergency assistance in parts of Ukraine.

Key Activity Areas

Technical

  • Provide key messages for protection in Ukrainian to new arrivals.
  • Support the Protection coordinator with managing volunteer schedules, training & capacity building of volunteers.
  • In cooperation with site coordinators and the protection coordinator, prepare training facilities, training materials, facilitate training, and prepare reports as needed.
  • Maintain volunteer records.
  • Gather feedback from new arrivals, volunteers, and relevant reception center staff / administrators.
  • Provide on-site assistance, trouble-shooting, and support for volunteers and with center administrators.

 

Liaison and Staff Management

  • Liaise with local authorities as required by the protection coordinator.
  • Provide guidance and input on volunteer performance & ensure that volunteers are provided with relevant performance feedback.
  • Maintain records of feedback or other concerns raised by volunteers and staff.

 

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Conduct monitoring activities, including surveys of new arrivals, to gather information and learn lessons.
  • Contribute to improvements based on feedback and learnings.

 

General

  • Any other duties as requested by line manager, relevant to the scope of work.

Qualifications/ Experiences

  • Diploma or certificate. Degree in relevant subject desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of Ukrainian and Polish. Good English desirable.
  • 2 years’ experience in volunteer coordination or management or relevant experience.
  • Experience facilitating trainings or meetings.
  • A good understanding of protection principles.
  • Great communicator.
  • Ability to teach/train others.
  • Will take the initiative to suggest and help implement ways to improve the programme (desirable).
  • Good planning, organisation and reporting skills, so that deadlines will be met.
  • Servant minded leadership. Initiative taker, problem solver (desirable)
  • Flexible, can cope with stressful environments.
  • Personal awareness of own stress and emotional indicators.
  • Team player: open to share and receive information.
  • Desire to support community and serve others.
  • Ease in establishing relationships.
  • Creative Thinker (desirable).
