The Awards Management Unit is responsible for building, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with public and institutional donors and position IRC as a partner of choice for delivering programs for our clients. This means working to expand IRC’s portfolio and diversify our relationships, as well as supporting the successful and compliant management and implementation of awards.

Job Overview/Summary:

The Senior Vice President supports the delivery of IRC’s Strategy by leading IRC’s relationship with government and institutional donors, who represent 70-75% of IRC’s revenues. Working closely with program leaders, the SVP is responsible for building, maintaining and strengthening relationships with these donors and position IRC as a partner of choice for delivering programs that support those whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and crisis. This means working to expand IRC’s portfolio and diversify our relationships, as well as supporting the successful and compliant management and implementation of these awards.

The SVP sets the direction for IRC’s long-term funding priorities and goals in alignment with programmatic and regional objectives. As a member of the organization’s Leadership Board the SVP is a key contributor to the overall management of the organization and works closely with other senior leaders to steer the organization towards the achievements of its Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership

·Leads and develops a high performing managerial team to advance the vision, objectives and goals of AMU.

·Drives a workplace environment that values teamwork and fosters collaboration, promotes diversity and inclusiveness, and acknowledges and rewards staff contributions.The AMU team is approximately 150 staff members located in a number of global locations.

·Provides leadership and support to diversity and inclusion (D&I) efforts in AMU and across the organization. This includes sponsoring D&I activities and partnering with the Gender, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion team and HR to incorporate D&I into AMU policies and procedures.

·Sets departmental direction for operational excellence and promotes consistent implementation and application of business processes, technical advice, and systems

·Maintains and builds cross-functional relationships across IRC, including with programs as well as finance, legal, human resources and global supply chain, to support the integration of best- in- class award management structure.

Donor Engagement, Business Development and Partnerships

·Drives public donor engagement- ensures the department prioritizes initiatives to target, expand and optimize income; and cultivates and grows relationships with existing and new donors.

·Manages top level donor relationships and consortium partnerships and takes the lead in critical donor negotiations for key funding opportunities and current awards.

·Provides donor analysis and donor trends to guide leadership board decision making on new donor opportunities and responsive donor strategies.

·Is responsible for expanding and diversifying funding opportunities with existing and new donors through prioritizing improved decision making and governance as well as upskilling the workforce.

·Promotes regular reviews of business development systems and processes and addresses ineffective business practices and procedures

·Advocates for an ambitious local partnerships agenda which leverages existing and builds new partnerships with local civil society and private sector actors and results in more effective, responsive and durable assistance that reaches more people and produces better outcomes for the people we serve.

Programme Excellence

·Is accountable for successful execution and management of awards across countries and regions in partnership with the international programs leader.

·Fosters technical excellence for the delivery of all types of awards including commercial contracts; systems, processes and compliance as well as further growth opportunities for regional and programmatic awards.

·Is accountable, in partnerships with international programs leaders; the identification and prioritization of strategic funding initiatives.

·Advocates for an ambitious local partnerships agenda which leverages existing and builds new partnerships with local civil society and private sector actors and results in more effective, responsive and durable assistance that reaches more people and produces better outcomes for the people we serve.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

  • 12+ years progressive experience or proven background in grants management and business development; humanitarian experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in dealing with and understanding statutory donors
  • A convener and influencer of people and senior level stakeholders who has significant experience working in a matrix environment with dual reporting lines
  • 10+ years working in a large, multi-national environment with consideration to cultures and contexts
  • Someone who has vision and implementation skills to shape AMU to meet IRC’s goals
  • Leadership skills and ability to manage, develop and engage a diverse team in multiple locations
  • Someone who can work from a top-level strategy down to a deep understanding of the data and details and can then incorporate that into strong decision making
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced and changing environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Fluent in English, additional languages including French, Arabic or Spanish are a plus
