The MFO main base in Sharm El Sheikh - South Camp - resembles a normal military environment where military personnel from different nations are serving alongside expatriate civilians and national civilians. You will be working for the Vehicle Maintenance Facility which supports over 560 vehicles that serve to sustain operations for the Multinational Force and Observers.  The equipment ranges from light soft skinned vehicles, fully armored vehicles, medium and heavy logistic support equipment and plant equipment.  Maintenance operations take place at 2 locations – one in the North of the Sinai and one in the South at Sharm El Sheikh.  Your role will see you rotate between the locations and be responsible for overseeing a team of around 12 local national technicians in one of the 2 shops at each workshop.  You could be asked to work in either the Light Shop or Heavy Shop therefore a broad experience of equipment is more preferrable than a specialization.  On a daily basis you will be responsible for the production, prioritizing work, all aspects of safety in the shop and the mentorship of technicians.

DURATION: Initial two-year employment contract is offered, which can be renewed every two years. The initial contract includes a four-month probationary period. 

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Supervises and manages a multi-national team of skilled technicians in the repair and maintenance of vehicles at both North and South Camps.  Ensures vehicles are maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s recommended standards and in keeping with organizational maintenance schedules. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise work carried out in an inspection cell, service bay, paint and body shop, a workshop specific for light vehicles, and workshop for heavy goods vehicles / specialist plant equipment.  Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, parts consumed, and labor hours expended, in SAP.   
  2. Supervises a team of over 15 workers delivering the required technical works and services.  This includes prioritizing, scheduling, and supervising tasks where practicable, competency training, performance management, absence and roster management, skills assessments, setting performance standards, providing a clean and safe working environment, and ensuring equipment maintenance records are updated. 
  3. Ensuring prescribed health and safety practices and procedures are adhered to, including but not limited to, conduct of startup meetings, toolbox talks, safety walk throughs, up to date risk assessments and work method statements. 
  4. Ensure vehicle maintenance work is efficiently planned and completed on time, according to set priorities, and through responsible use of resources and equipment. 
  5. Ensure a high level of performance and competency for assigned workers. 
  6. Manage tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  7. Provide accurate repair estimates to include fault finding, creating work orders, ordering parts, carrying out damage assessments in accordance with standard procedures, usage of OEM technical fault-finding tooling and software.
  8. Carry out quality control checks, vehicle inspections, failure diagnoses using digital test equipment and provide supporting technical reports. 
  9. Ensure compliance with occupational safety policy and procedures. 
  10. Manage 24-hour emergency vehicle recovery capability. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

Essential:

  • Thorough understanding of and ability to operate vehicles and equipment used at the maintenance facility. 
  • Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and vehicle body repair. 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Microsoft Office and SAP knowledge. 
  • Fluent in English. 

 

 Desirable:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative and produce results.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
  • Ability to come up with practical actions to deal with issues.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualified vehicle technician with recognized national certification equivalent to City and Guilds level 3 or higher. 
  • Secondary/High School graduate.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a vehicle technical workshop environment.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory/team leader’s role.
  • Experience in vehicle recovery techniques is highly desirable.
