Job Summary

 
The Research Department of the IMF is looking for Economists/Sr. Economists to work on the macroeconomic aspects of climate change.
 

Under the Multilateral Surveillance Division of the Research Department (RES), and as part of a team dedicated to climate change issues, the selected candidate will contribute to strengthening the Department’s work on climate change and mitigation strategies, with particular emphasis on macroeconomic effects and policy design. The candidate will contribute to the research agenda on the macroeconomic effects of climate change mitigation, the integration of research results in the multilateral surveillance products of the Fund, and the Fund’s effort to enhance surveillance of climate change issues in the context of IMF Article IVs.


Qualifications

The successful candidate will have an advanced degree in economics and a strong background in environmental/climate change economics. He/she should have demonstrated the capacity to carry out high-quality policy-relevant research on macro-climate issues, possess excellent analytical and technical skills, have the ability to write well and quickly as well as to communicate effectively with different audiences, the ability to exercise independent judgment, and strong leadership skills/potential. Familiarity with Integrated Assessment Models, Computable General Equilibrium or Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium models to examine climate-related policy issues would be a plus.


The applicant should have proven research interests in climate change issues as well as a strong track record of academic and policy-relevant publications on these issues.
