Responsibilities

Research and analysis

  • In consultation with key stakeholders, identify analysis gaps and propose and design thematic analytical products
  • Design, coordinate, and produce analysis and research products, both ACAPS-only and in collaboration with partners
  • Support partners in designing primary research and providing analytical support for qualitative and quantitative research
  • Continue reviewing assessments, reports, and information products on the Rohingya crisis to understand the information landscape

Information management and support

  • Update the information tracking systems as required and agreed upon with the Team Leader
  • Contribute to the updating of information management tools to improve tracking and impact monitoring
  • Maintain the meta-database and ensure it is updated fortnightly
  • Train incoming staff on IM processes

Networking and supporting the response

  • Maintain close contact with the ISCG, including the IMWG, to ensure buy-in for all products
  • Play an active role in the 2021 Joint MSNA process, contributing to methodology development (qualitative and quantitative) and providing analytical support as needed
  • Maintain informal “coffee meetings” with key IM actors to facilitate informal analysis sharing
  • Represent the Hub at different forums, as required, and help identify local and national networks and support systems for engagement

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree, preferable in humanitarian action, management, social sciences, international relations, research, or international development.
  • Bachelor’s degree with an additional 2 years’ experience will be accepted instead.
  • Three years of experience in research, analysis or information management in the humanitarian sector, of which a minimum of one must be on humanitarian research, preferably in a multi-sector/multi-agency setting
  • Previous experience working in humanitarian operations in UN or INGO systems
  • Previous experience in research and analysis design
  • Previous experience with both primary and secondary data analysis processes
  • Proven ability and experience working with a wide range of data types
  • Proven ability to deliver against targets and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in protracted crises
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to work in complex and multi-cultural environments
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English language skills
  • Experience with qualitative data analysis software (ATLAS TI, Nvivo)
  • Experience living/working in Bangladesh or the region
  • Experience in data visualisation and GIS
