Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office of REMPEC, and in close collaboration with REMPEC’s Programme Officers, the incumbent will:

  1. Act as project manager within the framework of the Bilateral Cooperation Agreement between the United Nations Environment Programme and the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition (MiTE);
  2. Monitor and support the timely implementation of MiTE-funded activities, notably by contributing to the preparation of correspondences, terms of reference, procurement documentation, as well as financial and progress reports;
  3. Assist the Head of Office to coordinate the work of the Intersessional Correspondence Groups addressing decommissioning and monitoring of offshore activities and amendments to the Annexes to the Offshore Protocol and organize the meeting of the Offshore Protocol Focal Points; 
  4. Prepare and implement capacity building activities and projects, organize missions and consultancies, seminars and training courses;
  5. Provide routine technical advice to Mediterranean coastal States and stakeholders and contribute to the communication strategy on topics covered by the Bilateral Cooperation Agreement and the Offshore Protocol;
  6. Support the Head of Office in establishing, developing, and maintaining relationships with the representatives of the competent national authorities, petroleum organizations, non-governmental organizations, oil and gas industries, professional organizations and other relevant partners;
  7. Update thematic assessment products related to pollution of the Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Programme, by coordinating the preparation of related technical documents and by updating MAP Components' databases and data platforms;
  8. Provide Secretariat support to meetings organized by REMPEC, and those organized under the Barcelona Convention, including the preparation of briefs, documents, and reports;
  9. Represent REMPEC at external conferences, seminars, meetings, and similar events, prepare and provide technical papers and lectures, as required; 
  10. Undertake other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Office, as appropriate.
