1. General Background

The Security Guard will be operating under the overall supervision of the Senior Security Advisor and the direct supervision of the Field Security Associate. He/she will be working under close guidance and follow established security procedures, these jobs require to work different shifts and report for duty in short notice.

All UNHCR staff members are accountable to perform their duties as reflected in their job description. They do so within their delegated authorities, in line with the regulatory framework of UNHCR which includes the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions as well as relevant accountability frameworks. In addition, staff members are required to discharge their responsibilities in a manner consistent with the core, functional, cross-functional and managerial competencies and UNHCR¿s core values of professionalism, integrity and respect for diversity.



2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment
Duties and responsibilities of Contracted security guards shall include, but not limited to, the following:
- Patrols and maintains security of the office premises and grounds, including overnight guard duties, and reports any irregularities;
- Responds to emergencies affecting the safety of the premises and notifies supervisor;
- Opens and closes the building;
- Checks that all office machines, air conditioners, lights, etc., are turned off after working hours;
- Controls admissions of authorised personnel and movements of United Nations property into and out of the premises;

¿ Comply with all SOPs, General Orders and Office Instructions.
¿ Control visitors¿ identification badges according to UNHCR access control SOPs.
¿ Conduct regular patrolling throughout UNHCR premises
¿ Conduct any other duties as instructed by Senior Security Advisor.

For G1 - Completion of Primary Education; or High School Diploma or higher

Desirable
Communication skills.
