The Role

We are looking for MEAL Intern- Enumerator  

The intern will provide operational assistance to the Program team in the following areas:

  • Working closely with the MEAL Officer, reviewing/update MEAL plans on regular basis, in close coordination with project teams and Oxfam’s partners.
  • Ensure the implementation of MEAL frameworks and adherence to Oxfam quality standards.
  • Programmed monitoring, Information management, and Reporting
  • Field data collection and data management
  • Overseeing recruitment and training of data collectors
  • Carrying out and supervising data collection (Focus group discussions, post-distribution monitoring, surveys, observations etc.) and data entry.
  •  Supervise project baselines, End line, PDM and Verification surveys under the supervision of the MEAL Officer.
  •  Following up with the MEAL enumerators, attendance sheets, payment, insurance and contracts
  • Analyses quantitative and qualitative data, drafts reports presenting the results of the analysis, and shares the findings in an appropriate format
  • Making initial data processing and coordinating with Project Team and MEAL officer to finalizing quantitative and qualitative data analyses and drafting of reports.
  • Reports to / alerts the MEAL officer on regular basis on any anticipated project issues, risks and any emerging opportunities and threats to the project implementation, related to this role.
  • Supports in the establishment and management of a beneficiary database system
  • Supports the MEAL officer in producing clear and quality reports that demonstrate accountability and learning.
  • Develop and submit weekly and/or monthly field monitoring reports in consultation with the MEAL Officer
  • Assets the MEAL Officer in providing field level feedback on monitoring checklists or tools
  • Ensures all MEAL-related data and files are properly organized and stored

Accountability:

  • Assist the MEAL Officer in establishing and managing the Complaint and Feedback Mechanism at field level with beneficiaries and stakeholders.
  • Shares feedback and complaints with field teams and tracks follow-up.
  • Share weekly/monthly reports with the MEAL officer
  • Follow up with the helpline operator to ensure that all the received complaints/feedback is properly registered and managed.

Evaluation, Review, and Learning:

  • Support the management of evaluations, including the coordination of field-based data collection activities, review of evaluation reports, and sharing of evaluation findings and recommendations with intended audiences.
  • Monitor the implementation of evaluation recommendations at the field level
  • Assist the project team and partners in documenting lessons learned, collecting best practices, and case studies that demonstrate qualitative and quantitative changes over the period.
  • support field-based reviews and learning events

Coordination and Networking:

  • Ensure active coordination with all departments to implement the MEAL activities
  • activities, harmonization, secondary information sources etc.
  • Delivering any other responsibility related to MEAL assigned by the line manage

What we are looking for

skills, experience, and knowledge

  • Minimum of 1 year of working experience in MEAL with an NGO or similar organization.
  • Basic understanding of M&E systems and/or accountability mechanisms in both humanitarian and developmental responses is an added value
  • Experience of working with an NGO – especially in project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Previous experience with working on designing data collection tool (SurveyCTO, KOBO),  or similar data collection platforms
  • Experience of gathering, analyzing and presenting quantitative and qualitative data
  • Good communication skills in written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of other data analysis software will be an added value
  • Willingness to improve planning, coordination, and reporting skills
  • Ability to communicate and support diverse teams in consortia Oxfam works with.
  • A good understanding of the Iraqi context and cultures.
  • An understanding of gender, protection, and diversity issues in livelihoods and economic development programs.
  • Ability to travel to within Ninawa government (door to door interviews).
