Job Overview:
The Survivors of Torture (SOT) Case Aide is a short-term position (3 months) that supports the Survivor Wellness Center team in providing culturally appropriate, strengths-based, trauma-responsive, and client-centered services to the clients enrolled in the SOT Program (asylum seekers, asylees, and refugees who are torture survivors engaging in rehabilitative services). The SOT Case Aide works closely with clients to implement service plans, meets individual client needs by connecting them with services, and navigates resources in six domains: legal, housing, physical health, mental health, access to community resources, and support systems in the U.S.

Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Assist in enrolling clients and determining eligibility for the SOT Program at intake
- Provide relevant referrals for clients deemed ineligible for the SOT Program.
- Support efforts to link SOT Program clients with appropriate services.
- Assist clients to attain their established goals, address challenges, and utilize available resources.
- Aid in evaluating client progress toward goals every six months during their participation in the Program.
- Assist clients in navigating services, which may include helping clients apply for benefits, schedule appointments, and attend appointments.
- Map out community resources and refer clients to community partners and resources.
- Provide clients with information and extended orientation on a variety of topics such as navigating transportation systems, navigating physical healthcare systems, and accessing other resources at the local level.
- Conduct community outreach to service providers to ensure client needs are met.
- Support SOT Clinical Case Managers in response to client crises.
- Maintain up-to-date records in client case files and ensure all services are properly documented in IRC’s case management database, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), throughout the client’s service period.
- Attend relevant trainings and meetings at the local and national level.
- Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.
- Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or related field of study preferred. May be substituted by the equivalent number of years in relevant work and/or lived experience.

Work Experience:

- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required, with experience working with torture survivors or similar populations strongly preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

- Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
- Fluent in English required, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

Working Environment:

- A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and “field” time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
- May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation and Benefits: This position is a full-time, non-exempt position scheduled at 37.5 hours per week and eligible for overtime in accordance with state and federal labor laws. Compensation is budgeted at $19.00-$20.50 per hour, depending on qualifications. This is a short-term position for an initial term of 3 months with the possibility of extension based on available funding. As a short-term employee, the SOT Case Aide is not eligible for benefits.
