Background:

The recruitment is for the ODIHR Experts roster.

The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) is the principal institution of the OSCE responsible for the human dimension. ODIHR is active throughout the OSCE area in the fields of election observation, democratic development, human rights, tolerance and non-discrimination, and the rule of law. ODIHR is tasked with assisting OSCE participating States to ensure full respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms; to promote democratic elections; to abide by the rule of law; to promote principles of democracy; to build, strengthen and protect democratic institutions; and to promote tolerance throughout their societies.  
Therefore, the office requires the services of a Graphic Designer, on an occasional basis, with experience in the design and layout of documents related to the above-mentioned issues. The Graphic Designer should be available for a potential assignment at short notice and should render the services in his/her capacity as an individual, not an agency.


Tasks and responsibilities:

Under the general supervision of the Editor, Public Affairs Unit, the consultant will be tasked with designing and laying out of ODIHR publications and laying out language versions of ODIHR publications, reports and other written documents.


Necessary Skills and Qualifications:

  • First-level university degree preferably in visual arts, design, communications, international relations;
  • At least eight years of experience working as a graphic designer;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; 
  • Demonstrated gender and diversity awareness and sensitivity, and an excellent ability to integrate a gender and diversity perspective into tasks and activities;
  • Ability to work flexibly, alone or within a team and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national, cultural and other background Professional training and experience in design and layout of publications; 
  • Knowledge of OSCE/ODIHR is an asset.


Remuneration:

Remuneration will depend on the selected consultant’s qualifications and experience and be in accordance with OSCE established rates.
