Role and responsibilities:
As Senior Financial Controller, you develop the financial management and internal control systems in Diakonia. You are part of the Department for Operational Support and Finances. You supervise and coach a team of Finance and Admin staff across the regions and country offices. You will work closely with colleagues in Diakonia´s regional and country offices, as well as with partners, donors and networks. This position reports to the Global Director for Operational Support and Finance. Your main responsibilities include: 

Financial Management
Contribute to the overall management and strategic development of Diakonia´s financial management work and internal control systems.
Leading and developing budgeting/financial planning, financial follow-up and reporting.
Coordinating the budget/forecast process for the regions and the global organisation.
Maintain oversight of the financial situation for each country program with the regional office to secure break-even financial position with financial need and organisational liquidity.
Responsible for close follow-up of institutional financial inflows and outflows with the regional offices to provide approved funding to countries as part of the process.
Provide professional input to the annual budget processes and assist in the preparation of consolidated financial accounts and consolidated budgets.
Provide support and capacity strengthening to the regions in financial issues.
Functional supervision of the Finance staff in the regions and country offices. 

Operational and Risk Strategy
Assist in carrying out the risk assessment on an annual basis, ensuring that measures are taken.
Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information and make actionable recommendations on both strategy, business plans and operations. 

Compliance and Internal Control
Oversee the finance internal control systems, operational liquidity and cash management.
Ensure that Diakonia and its partners are compliant with requirements and standards as stated in agreements and policies.
Ensuring and strengthening internal control and accountability procedures and systems.
Involve in the update of the business policies and manage their implementation.
Conduct internal audits to increase capacity and efficiency.
Carrying out financial monitoring according to the decided yearly compliance and financial monitoring plan, as well as dealing with any deviations from the plan. 

Capacity Development
Provide training and support to finance staff within the global finance and administration team.
Assist in the maintenance of the internal control processes and systems and recommendations through internal and external audits.
Assist in reviewing the financial management systems for relevant offices and partners through visits of implementation sites.
Initiate processes, instructions, guidelines, handbooks, policies, etc for dealing with finances.
Ensure that awareness is raised on internal control systems through trainings within the organisation and partners.  

Experience and qualifications:
We are looking for an experienced professional with a strategic, flexible and solution-oriented mindset. You have a high integrity and value accountability and quality and believe in teamwork. You have excellent communication skills both speaking and writing, including using digital tools. We also want you to have the following qualifications:
University degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting and Finance or other related field.
 Experience in financial management and internal control systems.
Project and grant management experience.
Microsoft 365 experience.
You have experiences of working in an International Organisation.
Demonstrated experience working within the humanitarian and/or development sector.
You have good interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.

You are:
• Analytical and a problem-solver.
Able to work both independently and in collaboration with others.
 Fluent in English.
 Pro-active and well organized.  

This is a plus:
• Command of different languages, preferably Swedish.
Microsoft Dynamics experience.
Experience in change management and working with internal audits.
