Context

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the center of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors. Together, UN Women in Tunisia and Libya form a Cluster Office with joint management and operational team. The UN Women Tunisia and Libya Cluster Office seeks to strengthen its human resources to effectively and efficiently leverage digital communications to contribute to the advancement of gender equality in both countries. Communication being a multi-dimensional and integral aspect of its interventions, the Communications Assistant would support the Communications Department to increase UN Women’s visibility to reach a wider and diverse audience, raise the voices of women and girls and influence wider conversations on gender equality in Tunisia and Libya. Reporting to the Country Representative, the Communications Assistant supports the formulation and implementation of the communications and advocacy strategies to increase the standing and awareness of UN Women with partners, the media and the public. The Communications Assistant promotes a client-oriented approach in UN Women.
