This position requires performing the basic field operations including performing crop management field operations, crossing, selfing etc. in the field and glasshouse, harvesting, post-harvest seed processing activities etc. Further, this position is the most important link between the Scientific Officers, technicians, and farm labour.Field Attendant (RA22_0255)
The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is currently seeking applications from dynamic and motivated Indian Nationals for the position of “Field Attendant” to carry out research work under Cluster- Genebank, Global Research Program- Accelerated Crop Improvement. This role is based at the ICRISAT Headquarters, Patancheru, Telangana, India.
The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is a non-profit, non-political organization that conducts agricultural research for development in the drylands of Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Covering 6.5 million square kilometers of land in 55 countries, the semi-arid or dryland tropics is home to over 2 billion people, and 644 million of these are the poorest of the poor.
ICRISAT, established in 1972, is a member of the CGIAR Consortium. ICRISAT and its partners help empower these poor people to overcome poverty, hunger and a degraded environment through better agriculture. Key Responsibilities:
- Performing crop management field operations, crossing, selfing etc. in the field and glasshouse.
- Performing harvesting, and post-harvest seed processing activities.
- Engaging with temporary farm labour.
- Supporting supervisor in data recording in the field and postharvest data collection.
- Performing any other relevant activities assigned by supervisor as and when required.
Qualification and Experience:
- Matriculation/10th class with preference to higher secondary school graduate. Max ceiling of graduate/diploma.
- A minimum of 2 years of field work experience at ICRISAT or any other agricultural university or in seed companies.
- Knowledge of local language along with preference of basic fluency in English.
