Background information – HSSE Unit in SSC
UNOPS strategic focus places increased emphasis on national capacity development and sustainable approaches to project services and operations. A key objective is to be recognized as an organization that delivers world-class projects that are both economically, environmentally and socially sustainable, even in the most challenging environments. To achieve this goal, UNOPS established the Health, Safety, Social and Environmental (HSSE) management unit. UNOPS commitment towards safeguarding HSSE management across all UNOPS projects and facilities is outlined in the Policy on HSSE management.
Functional Responsibilities
Summary of functions:
- Become a champion of the new UNOPS HSSE management electronic system
The analyst will work with the training developers to become very proficient in the use of the new UNOPS HSSE management electronic system, including oneUNOPS Project and oneUNOPS Collect used for data collection and data management. The HSSE Team will deliver a train-the-trainer session to empower the analyst with the use of the new tools. The analyst is responsible for understanding the tool and its functionalities under the guidance of the supervisor.
- Facilitate training sessions on oneUNOPS Collect App
The analyst shall transfer knowledge to the project team members in the use of oneUNOPS Collect App for data collection, including assigning the role of data collectors to team members and access to the relevant HSSE Form Groups
- Assist Project Teams in setting up oneUNOPS Collect App within the scheduled time
The analyst is expected to reach out to all project teams to ensure team members have adequate access to oneUNOPS Collect App and HSSE Form Groups
- Deliver training to Country Offices on the modules of HSSE management system
Facilitate training sessions for Project Managers, Health and Safety advisors, HSSE Country Coordinators and Senior roles as required on incident management, site inspections, risk assessment, training delivery and annual plans. Modify training materials as necessary to meet changes requested during training sessions.
- Collect feedback from users and address requests
The analyst shall collect feedback and assist users with their requests. Feedback will need to be consolidated in a Q&A tracker and shared among users. System change requests need to be escalated to the relevant internal stakeholders
- Cooperate with the Regional HS Specialists to ensure engagement with the countries involved in the roll-out
The analyst is expected to work with the Regional HS Specialists to ensure Country Offices are engaged in adopting the new HSSE management electronic system. In case of low engagement level additional training sessions or communication may be required.
- Monitor the progress of Project Teams in adopting the new system.
The analyst shall develop a monitoring tool/process to track the progress of countries in adopting the new system and ensure the system is adopted within the scheduled time.

Education/Experience/Language requirements
| Education: | An advanced / Master's degree preferably in International Cooperation, Health and Safety Management, Environmental Management, Social Development, Civil Engineering or other related field is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in combination with 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. |
| Experience: | A minimum of 2 years of experience in a role that supported project management, health and safety, environmental management or social development is required (with a Master’s / advanced university degree) |
| Language Requirements: | Full working knowledge of English. Knowledge of an additional language from either Arabic, French or Spanish is an asset. |
