Mission and objectives
Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leadingUN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental andnon-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for thebenefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context
IOM in Germany is providing several career opportunities for its projects and is seeking to improve the volume and quality of applications received. IOM’s HR plan is to create a succession planning strategy and for this, is working on increasing its employer brand visibility on social media and with universities or other educational institutions. HR is also developing a job posting strategy to better target potential applicants in the various fields of work offered within the mission (administrative and operational positions) and for this reason HR department needs a volunteer that will contribute to the efforts of mapping educational institutions and job boards and create attractive social media content and posts that are related to IOM’s mission, work flexibility and culture.
Task description
This is a short-term task which will liaise between the Outreach, Media and HR teams. This Online Volunteer assignment will assist the HR Team in mapping universities and professional societies in Europe (Psychologist, Social Worker, Law, International Relations etc.) and create attractive social media posts shared to these institutions with the goal to increase IOM Germany’s employer visibility. Under the overall supervision of the Senior HR Assistant and direct supervision of the Recruitment Focal Point, the successful candidate will be responsible for mapping online job boards relevant to humanitarian and administrative positions in Germany and Europe, collecting information on posting modalities, pricing, and target audience. The incumbent will also map universities across Germany and support the Recruitment Focal Point in establishing partnerships. Finally, the incumbent will support the creation of content and posts on IOM Germany’s social media channels to support its recruitment activities. The volunteer will have access to the Onboarding and Knowledge Management Platform of IOM Germany and will participate in daily HR meetings as part of the HR team. The online volunteer will gain insights on the structure of an international organization, its projects and activities as well as exposure in an organized HR environment. The volunteer will also benefit on communications level, as the selected candidate will be in contact with various partners and potential collaborators in the country of Germany and abroad.
