We are seeking a Communications Manager, Climate & Environment (f/m/d) DW Akademie Colombia in Bogota as of 1 November 2022 or as soon as possible on the basis of a full-time or part-time local staff contract limited for one year (with the possibility of extension to a three-year contract).

The purpose of the role is to promote the creation of a media agenda on climate change, environment and human rights in Colombia and the region by connecting different stakeholders in order to achieve a greater impact, as well as to develop and implement communication strategies for the projects managed by DW Akademie.

YOUR CHALLENGES

  • Promoting the projects through the elaboration of communication strategies
  • Supporting the management of the DW Akademie Colombian and regional projects
  • Advising partners and Agents of Change in cross-cutting communication processes and in the participation in national and international forums
  • Establishing contacts with new actors relevant to the projects
  • Developing an international agenda for project visibility
  • Establishing collaboration frameworks and agreements to strengthen the projects
  • Reporting to the Program Director and other senior management on local, regional, national and international issues that are directly or indirectly related to the projects
  • Coordinating information research, reception, editing and dissemination of publications
  • Preparing project-related presentations for any media or events

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed university studies in journalism or a comparable qualification relevant for the role, Master’s degree desired and a strong advantage
  • Several years of professional experience in environmental journalism and communication
  • Professional experience working on communications strategies, internal communications, or another relevant field
  • Familiarity with processes in the media sector
  • Sound knowledge of the fields of dialogue, human rights work, and civil conflict transformation
  • Professional language proficiency in Spanish and English essential, proficiency in German desired and a strong advantage
  • Ability to effectively build trust and collaboration with individuals and groups within and outside the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • High level of intercultural competence, diplomacy and political sensitivity
  • Entrepreneurial and hands-on approach to work
  • Ability to handle confidential information
