The purpose of the role is to promote the creation of a media agenda on climate change, environment and human rights in Colombia and the region by connecting different stakeholders in order to achieve a greater impact, as well as to develop and implement communication strategies for the projects managed by DW Akademie.
YOUR CHALLENGES
- Promoting the projects through the elaboration of communication strategies
- Supporting the management of the DW Akademie Colombian and regional projects
- Advising partners and Agents of Change in cross-cutting communication processes and in the participation in national and international forums
- Establishing contacts with new actors relevant to the projects
- Developing an international agenda for project visibility
- Establishing collaboration frameworks and agreements to strengthen the projects
- Reporting to the Program Director and other senior management on local, regional, national and international issues that are directly or indirectly related to the projects
- Coordinating information research, reception, editing and dissemination of publications
- Preparing project-related presentations for any media or events
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed university studies in journalism or a comparable qualification relevant for the role, Master’s degree desired and a strong advantage
- Several years of professional experience in environmental journalism and communication
- Professional experience working on communications strategies, internal communications, or another relevant field
- Familiarity with processes in the media sector
- Sound knowledge of the fields of dialogue, human rights work, and civil conflict transformation
- Professional language proficiency in Spanish and English essential, proficiency in German desired and a strong advantage
- Ability to effectively build trust and collaboration with individuals and groups within and outside the organization
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- High level of intercultural competence, diplomacy and political sensitivity
- Entrepreneurial and hands-on approach to work
- Ability to handle confidential information
