Mission and objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. In the occupied Palestinian territory, the first Field Unit was established in 1994. It is based in East Jerusalem and hosted by UNDP Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People. Since its inception, UNV in the occupied Palestinian territory has been instrumental in responding to the needs and encouraging the enhancement of the Palestinian society.

Context

The UN has declared the 5th December as the International Volunteer Day (IVD) to encourage governments to support volunteer efforts and recognize volunteer contributions to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at local, national and international levels. The UNV Palestine will use this event to highlight the volunteering efforts responding to the COVID-19 outbreak and to promote volunteerism in Palestine. Interested volunteers will help our communication team translate 10 quotes from the heads of Un agencies in Palestine to be used in our social media pages.

Task description

We are seeking 2 Online Volunteers to support us in translating quotes from the head of UN agencies from English to Arabic to be shared on our social media pages during the celebration of International Volunteer Day. 2022. You will be asked to translate 10 quotes from the Heads of UN agencies in Palestine and work with a volunteer designer to share these quotes on the UNV Palestine Facebook page.
