Mission and objectives
Our vision is a world where every woman is safe, healthy and lives free from female genital mutilation (FGM). Our purpose is to work with anti-FGM activists to promote, sustain and safeguard the physical and emotional well-being of women by the global eradication of FGM. We need to significantly scale up and accelerate our efforts, using identified effective practices to guide our approach. Everyone has an important role to play in ending FGC. Ending cutting can’t be achieved by one organisation alone. It requires a movement of organisations, activists, politicians, ambassadors and leaders at all levels.
Context
FGM/C in Mali est amongst the highest in Africa. To respond to the 2030 End-FGM agenda, ONGs around Africa are teaming up. 28 Too Many / Orchid Project, part of the Africa-led movement to end FGM/C, have finalised a Country Profile report on FGM/C in Mali. A formal online launch will take place on Wednesday the 23rd of November, where the report will be presented to Malian NGOs, followed by a Q&A session.
Task description
We are looking for one or two online volunteers who will be supporting with French to English simultaneous interpretation, with experience, preferably in the Human Rights / Gender norms sector, An online conference launching a formal report on FGM/C in Mali will take place on the 23rd of November, The conference will last about a hour and half. The report will be made available to the online volunteers who are supporting with interpretation beforehand, in both languages.
