Gavi is beginning the process for the next Vaccine Investment Strategy (VIS) which occurs once every 5 years to identify future immunisation investments of high public health importance for Gavi-supported countries and potential inclusion in the portfolio. Critical elements of the VIS include defining an evaluation framework that will be used to assess which vaccines should be prioritised for investment and mapping longlist vaccines against this framework. Extensive analyses and consultation – both internal and external - will inform development of the evaluation framework and will shape the health impact modelling and demand forecasting required to prioritise the longlist.
There are two internship positions available across 2023.
Key results expected
• Supporting the Policy team to develop an evaluation framework for senior Gavi leadership approval, including required analyses that inform internal thinking;
• Supporting the Policy team to assess and prioritise the vaccine longlist for senior Gavi leadership approval, including application of required health economic analyses;
• Supporting the Policy team with internal and external stakeholder management;
• Gaining global health skills and knowledge, including Gavi vaccines stakeholders, R&D financing, vaccine delivery priorities and policy making.

• Support efforts to develop and assess evaluation framework options and perform preliminary analyses on several candidate vaccines;
• Support efforts to perform analyses on several longlist vaccine candidates, including application of ongoing health economic modelling and other qualitative evaluation considerations;
• As needed, prepare summary documents, presentations and reports related to analyses and consultations for meetings with senior Gavi leadership;
• Assist team with project management duties.

• Some expertise in vaccines, epidemiology and infectious diseases;

• Ability to work independently and iteratively, and effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a fast-paced, open environment;
• Knowledge of health economic modelling would be advantageous.
