Salaam Baalak Trust is a Not for Profit, Non-Governmental Organization, based in Delhi - India, and registered under the Indian Trust Act (1908). The Trust was established in December 1988 and provides support services for street and working children in the National Capital Region.
Salaam Baalak Trust has been working for street and working children in Delhi and the National Capital Region for the past 33 years. In the Delhi/NCR region, we have seven shelter homes, with five for boys and two for girls, nine contact points and three CHILDLINES functioning through which we reach out to 10,000 vulnerable children every year. Through our programs, we provide education, food, medical, psychological, and holistic development services to children. Our vision is to provide a platform, a safe space where every child can blossom to his/her full potential.
Section 2 | Purpose of the Role:
Children who do not have their biological families to take care of them (the biological parents may be dead, missing, or not fit to take care of them, due to many reasons, poverty being one of them). The guiding law for these children, the Juvenile Justice Act of 2015 defines âorphansâ as children without biological or adoptive parents or legal guardians and those whose legal guardian is not willing to take, or not capable of taking care of them. Under this law, these children live in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) and are governed as children in need of care and protection (CNCP).
It is mentioned under the law that post completion of 18 years of age the child becomes and major and can be settled into society. These 18+ youth are the target beneficiaries who need support in their rehabilitation and starting an independent life.
Aftercare Outreach Program play a vigorous role in providing them with a sustainable life by providing support in skilling and helping them to start living independently with dignity.
This is a 1-year program.
Section 3 | Key Responsibilities:
â¢The candidate will closely work with the children in Delhi/NCR who are restored to their families from the shelter homes of SBT and belong to the contact points.
â¢Under the Aftercare Outreach Program, the candidate will onboard the Care Leavers with the help of clear selection criteria and individual assessment to know their needs, map their talents and interest and accordingly support them.
â¢The candidate will list out care leavers based on the selection criteria decided in the project.
â¢The candidate will ensure needs-based counselling and positive mental health sessions to address Psycho-Social needs.
â¢The candidate needs to do regular follow up with the youth throughout the program.
â¢Regular home visits to the youth/care leavers are mandatory.
â¢The candidate shall be open for field visits in Delhi/NCR.
Any other job or related task as advised by the EC members
Weekend hours and extensive field travel shall be required.
Section 4 | Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Experience:
Approx. 2 years of experience working in an NGO and with youth.
Educational Qualifications:
Graduate / BSW
Skills Requirements:
â¢Proven working experience in NGO.
â¢Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both client-facing and internal skills.
â¢Excellent skills in documentation.
â¢Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
