Introduction
The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people. Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 190 projects in 123 countries and has committed USD 10 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts. The GCF’s diverse workforce is advancing its mission from its headquarters in South Korea. Internship Assignment  

 

The Intern will provide operational and administrative support to the ​Division of External Affairs​. S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his experiences by providing assistance in the ​Fund’s overall external affairs functions, especially for preparations with engagements in global/regional and GCF-led events that DEA will engage in high level international fora (analytics, logistical and other support, correspondence and planning for the participation in the events). In addition, s/he will be providing support on planning and development of communications products and activities, including production of digital content and assets, PowerPoints, outreach focused communications, etc. The intern is expected to assist with other tasks as needed.​ 

 

Under the overall guidance of the designated primary and alternate supervisors within the ​Division of External Affairs​, the Intern is expected to: 

 

a) Provide general administrative support to the Director and Division of External Affairs 

b) Draft, edit and support the creation of clear, accessible information about GCF’s activities, and support the creation of GCF-wide tools such as presentations, and briefing notes 

d) Support the Division of External Affairs to its organisational needs, and in relation to external and internal events 

e) Support with the preparation of mission briefing material for external engagements 

g) Support with drafting of official correspondence, letters, etc. 

h) Support with the planning and coordination of high-level and other external engagements 

 

Requirements and qualifications 

 

  1. Enrolled or recently graduated from Master’s program in ​climate and environment, finance, international relations, sustainable development, social science​ or related fields;  

  1. Knowledge and experience with ​international development and environment related events or projects​ 

  1. Good understanding and experience in operations of international organization is an added advantage; 

  1. Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access; 

  1. Good writing and presentation skills; 

  1. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage. 

*The person assessed by the Selection Panel as most suitable for the position will be proposed for appointment. The above criteria should be seen as indicators of the experience and skills that would qualify candidates for consideration. Selection among short-listed candidates will also take into account performance at interview, appropriate testing, and references.
