The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people. Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 190 projects in 123 countries and has committed USD 10 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts. The GCF’s diverse workforce is advancing its mission from its headquarters in South Korea. Internship Assignment  


The Intern will provide operational and administrative support to the ​Independent Integrity Unit (IIU) of the Green Climate Fund​. S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his experiences by providing assistance in the ​IIU’s capacity building of GCF Accredited Entities, strategic partnerships, and outreach and awareness raising activities on integrity standards.​ 


Under the overall guidance of the designated primary and alternate supervisors within the ​IIU​, the Intern is expected to: 


  1. Provide support in the planning and coordination of integrity-related capacity building activities, and in the development of e-learning tools, modules, trainings, webinars, and related materials; 

  1. Assist in the development of knowledge materials and knowledge sharing; 

  1. Provide support in the planning and coordination of stakeholders’ outreach and strategic engagement activities; 

  1. Provide administrative support in the negotiations of Memoranda of Understanding with counterpart integrity offices of Accredited Entities and in the management of the Entity Contact Database; 

  1. Provide general administrative support to the prevention function of the IIU; and 

  1. Perform additional tasks as may be required by the Head of IIU, Deputy Head of IIU, or designated IIU staff. 


Requirements and Qualifications 


  1. Enrolled in a Master’s program in ​international relations, legal studies, data science, social studies,​ or related fields;  

  1. Knowledge and experience with ​international development, anticorruption-related research, and/or environment-related events or projects;​ 

  1. Good understanding and experience in the operations of international organisations is an added advantage; 

  1. Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access; 

  1. Excellent writing and presentation skills; 

  1. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language in particular French, Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage.

The above criteria should be seen as indicators of the experience and skills that would qualify candidates for consideration. Selection among short-listed candidates will also take into account performance at interview, appropriate testing, and references.
