About India Humanitarian Hub :
The India Humanitarian Hub (IHH) is an initiative to prioritise local action and promote leadership of local institutions and actors in humanitarian response. The IHH has been established with an aspiration to reflect on, mobilise and act in ways that have never been done before and are beyond the scope and culture of the current humanitarian architecture. The Hub is being supported by Start Network and similar type of Hubs are promoted in few southern countries.
The IHH aims to achieve these changes by building the hub upon three pillars:

Job Summary:
In this role as Communication Specialist, this person will be responsible for leading the outreach of the India Humanitarian Hub (IHH) with inputs & support from the IHH Secretariat team and the Moderating Team, with reporting line to the Hub Manager.The primary role will be to develop and implement a communication plan for the IHH.
Core Scope of Work :
Develop a communications strategy for IHH
⢠Develop and implement a communications strategy for IHH, covering both internal and external communications, with oversight of the Moderating Team and the Hub Manager
Establish a KPI based communication monitoring plan, and report on it with the established regularity.Ensure strong internal communication amongst IHH governance structures, secretariat and members
⢠Together with the Hub Manager, design and implement an effective approach to ensuring clear, transparent and regulation communication between internal stakeholders.
⢠In collaboration with the Regional Hub Coordinators, design and deliver regular communications outreach to and consultations with IHH and members associated with IHH ensure strong membership engagement and that IHH activities are locally-led and based on member feedback.
⢠To scope in and initiate a process oriented data collection methodology driven by technology
Facilitate strong communications with external stakeholders:
⢠Prepare a detailed communication plan, with a message board, and a calendar of events, campaigns and regular messaging, with scope for including emergency communications as and when the need arises.
⢠Travel to regional locations, including project sites and member work areas to report on ground activities and convey local voices through IHH communications
⢠Establish and manage a basic website and a set of social media handles as discussed and advised by the leadership.
⢠Support local members in articulating their statements and ground reports, and promoting it on all platforms.
⢠Establishing links with mainstream print and digital media, and promote the work of IHH through these periodically as per the communications plan.
⢠To scope, explore possibility to design and if feasible, incubate an accountability dashboardand periodic publish of a humanitarian dash board of existing humanitarian needs and gaps in communities vis-à -vis the current responses to monitor and report progress on humanitarian activities in the ground.
⢠Engage with different stakeholders, including policy level actors (as per stakeholder map to be developed by the IHH Secretariat), and promote the networkâs progress with them through appropriate media.
⢠Any other communication related activity that comes through the IHH Secretariat and Moderating Team.
Expected Deliverables :
⢠A detailed communications strategy and plan covering both internal and external communications
⢠A KPI based reporting plan, and regular reporting on basis of this
⢠A basic website of the IHH
⢠A set of social media platform handles, established and managed based on the ethical communications plan
⢠A set of public relations outputs, including print and digital media reports on the work of the IHH
⢠Field missions with brief reports and media / social media outputs as per plan
⢠Outputs of engagement with local members, amplifying their voices
⢠Outputs of engagement with policy and other stakeholders, amplifying IHH processes with them
⢠An annual compilation of IHH activities through documentation means as per the communication plan
⢠Amplification of IHH messages through collaboration likeminded networks as directed by the Moderating Team.
Reporting :
The Communications Specialist will report to the Hub Manager.
Working relationship:
The Communications Specialist will work closely with the Hub Manager and the Regional Hub Coordinators. The Communications Specialist will collaborate with the Moderating Team, Working group and Task teams and the Host Agency, and with the regional and local stakeholders of the network. The Communications Specialist will also coordinate with relevant the relevant networks and hubs associated with the IHH as directed by the Moderating Team.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:
Educational Qualifications :
⢠Bachelors in mass communications, development media, communication design or related field. Bachelors in English or Arts, with relevant communication experience will also be considered.
⢠Two years of experience in a communications role, carrying out communications planning, and managing websites, social media and public relations.
Professional Experience and Competencies :
⢠Preferably have some understanding of the development and humanitarian sector,
⢠Have good understanding on communications and design principles and practices
⢠Strong written and verbal communication skills with good experience in result-based approaches.
⢠Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse set of stakeholders, including communities.
⢠Demonstrated skill sets inmanaging social media handles
Key competencies :
⢠High level of maturity with team work skills
⢠Excellent sills to articulate stories in brief and engaging manner
⢠Ability to work with a diverse group / across multiple locations
⢠Ability and willingness to travel to remote locations in challenging environments
Travel:
50% travel to field expected in this role
