Reward Specialist Adviser

The Rewards Specialist Adviser will provide both strategic and operational support to NRC’s HR Operations Unit.  The role will support the Global HR Director and Head of HR Operations by providing expertise, advice and guidance on the global reward strategy and direction.  

Generic responsibilities  

  1. Work with the Global HR Director and Head of HR Operations to provide technical expertise and guidance in the revision of NRC’s global reward systems and to drive strategic development within this area. 

  1. Provide technical expertise in the project management, design and implementation of reward related projects, taking a lead role as delegated.  

  1. Provide support to NRC senior management decision making processes, preparing business cases and briefing documents for reward related issues.  

  1. Advise and support on the implementation of NRC’s systems, tools and procedures on compensation and benefits e.g., pay scale development and review, determining allowances and other benefits, etc.  

  1. Develop Pay scales in collaboration with Regional/Country Offices and provide support, advice and guidance to NRC Offices on aspects of Compensation and Benefits that are locally determined. Facilitate the approval process. 

  1. Skill up and develop the capacity of HR senior managers within Compensation and Benefits through providing related trainings in NRC Offices. 

  1. Develop and maintain central information resources on Compensation and Benefits related documents, including all benchmarking data and national pay scales. 

  1. Support the development of compliance mechanisms to ensure adherence to NRC HR policies, handbooks, guidelines and procedures and the national labour law, in support to NRC offices. 

Specific responsibilities  

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.  

  1. Strategic development of global pension and insurance based on NRC’s business requirements and legal changes. Leading projects in regard to pension and insurance for international staff and staff on EoR contracts. Providing technical guidance and support to the global HR Team on topics in this area 

  1. Provide advice and recommendations to regional offices on proposals from NRC Offices on exceptions or deviations from NRC reward policies, facilitating the necessary approval and documentation processes. 

  1. Provide advice and guidance to Global recruitment Centre and Head office HR in obtaining Compensation and Benefits information needed for the Employer of record and Hosting contracts. 

  1. Provide support in uploading and maintenance of compensation and benefits info in NRC HR Management System (NRC People). 

  1. Work collectively within the HR Operations unit to contribute to continuous learning within the wider HR Global team, sharing experiences, best practice and lessons learned within thematic area and geographical portfolio 

Generic professional competencies:  

  • Master’s degree within relevant education e.g., HR, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics or Statistics.  

  • Senior level experience in compensation and benefits e.g. benchmarking, salary structures, job structures including job evaluation. 

  • Proven experience in leading and developing areas of global compensation and benefits or in reward related project management. 

  • Knowledge of compensation and benefits within an international context.  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to work at an advance level in Excel and databases. 

  • Ability to influence and work collaboratively with key stakeholders at all levels within an organisation 

  • Good level of numeracy and confident to provide basic statistical analysis. 

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Other languages such as French or Spanish, would be an advantage. 

Context related skills, knowledge and experience:  

  • Knowledge of organisational change 

  • Knowledge of project management 

  • Experience of capacity building and/or training would be useful 

  • Strong collaborative working skills and ability to build relationships with colleagues at all level 

  • Solution oriented and creative problem solving

Salary:                                           Based upon NRC grading scale.
