The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) emphasizes climate change as “cross-cutting development issue that affects every aspect of the Marshallese way of life” and the need to “collectively build and strengthen its drive to a low-carbon economy and resilience to climate change impacts”. The RMI NDC Partnership Plan, finalized in December 2018 after widespread consultations with stakeholders, and approved by Cabinet in May 2019, articulates six priority outcomes towards achieving RMI’s NDC targets. All activities include in this planned project contribute to achieving the 6 priority outcomes of the RMI NDC Partnership Plan. It is envisaged that unfunded urgent activities of the RMI NDC Partnership Plan are to be funded under the Deepening Efforts to accelerate NDC Implementation (Deep Dive) project including strengthening coordination and increased collaboration through the Climate Change Coordination Mechanism in place. The strengthened coordination enables greater coverage of audience that will be targeted for increased NDC awareness and implementation efforts towards national ownership of the NDC raising ambition process, contributing significantly to successful implementation of the key priorities.
The In Country Facilitator (ICF) who is also the Project Manager (PM) manages the project on the ground collaborating closely with the UNDP Pacific Office and provide updates as well. The project is coordinated and implemented through the RMI NDC P Working Group that is chaired by the In Country Facilitator.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the In Country Facilitator (ICF) &Project Manager (PM), the Project Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Project Management Unit (PMU) in the administration and budget preparation and support responsibilities for the project including file and asset management, vendor negotiations and support to payment processing and submissions.

Support to maintain the office operations and budget for the project in Majuro
Budget preparation and support

Assist the Project Manager with tracking activity implementation through support to local contracts in Majuro
Assist the PM with preparation of project budgets and revision
Assist the PM with monitoring the project expenditures.
Administrative support to the PM and project
Responsible for making logistical arrangements for project personnel, experts,
Government and UNDP officers visiting or working in RMI.
Provide the necessary logistical and administrative support for the biannual Project
Steering Committee Meetings.
Under the leadership of the PM, monitor the work and deliverables of project consultants and report to the PM for high quality and timely contractual management.
Serve as a custodian for stationary supplies, distribution and keeping a log of distribution.
Asset register and file management-Maintain financial documents filling system in Majuro.
Perform other related duties, backstopping as necessary.
Facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing
Assist with relevant input to the PM on UNDP administrative and operational matters.
Assist with organizing trainings for the Government of RMI on coordination and capacity building per mandate of the project.
Synthesis of lessons learned and best practices in programme and operations.
