Background
The UN Clinic in Monrovia has the responsibility to provide care for eligible staff and dependents of the UN agencies in Liberia.
Under the guidance and supervision of his/her direct supervisor, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to the UN Clinic ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. The Driver provides driving services to authorized personnel and patients

Job Purpose and Organizational Context
- Under the direct supervision of the Health Manager or OIC of the Clinic, the ambulance driver is expected to provide the following duties and responsibilities.
- Provides reliable and secure driving services to patients and authorized UN Clinic personnel within the city and to regions with possible over-nights trips in the region.
- Driving office vehicle for the transport of patients and authorized personnel during curfew hours and after normal working hours when required.
- Meeting official personnel and patients at health facilities and ensuring the transfer of messages and medical documents with at most responsibility and confidentiality.
- Assist patients in the proper safe transfer to and from health facilities as requested.
- Provide basic first-aid measures when the need arises.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Proper use of office vehicle
- Ensure proper use of the ambulance, regular maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
- Proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing etc
- Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts.
- Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
- Make sure required medical items are available, used items are replaced, and proper medical waste disposal is adhered.
2. Provision of a full range of transport support for staff and dependents focusing on achievement of the following results::
- Ensuring timely, accountable, and cost-effective delivery of vehicle operations and patient transport.
- Coordinating patient transport operations with other UN agencies/funds/programmes and other organizations in the field as needed.
3. Assistance with general office and facilities management to ensure the full functioning of all equipment and services by:
- Assist in local purchasing of drugs and other items, delivery of letters and medical documents, etc.
4. Delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items the following key responsibilities
- Provides support to official documentation formalities/arrangements etc;
- Support other administrative/clerical services as required.
- Assist in archiving official aged documents and stored in the archive room for safe keeping
- Maintains data base of daily vehicle fuel consumption to be able to observe the minimum recorder level.
- Attend to other official errands as requested.
- Safe driving services provided for UN Liberia Staff members and dependents.
- Ambulance well maintained and made available for use at all times
- Fuel & vehicle daily logbook properly handled.
- Communication ethics with UNDSS regarding travel out of mission straightly ahead to
- Services are provided within the limits of delegated authority, maintenance and repair of the UNDP field office vehicle is achieved

Education
- Secondary Education is required.
- Valid driver’s license
- Basic First Aid training
Experience:
- 2 years’ work experience as a driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.
- Previous experience in the UN, Government or international organizations, Diplomatic Missions/Embassies, is desirable.
- Previous experience as Ambulance Driver or First aider is desirable
- Demonstrated skills in working with colleagues and collaborators of different national and cultural backgrounds
- Language requirements:
- Fluency in English and the language of the duty station.
