We are looking for a proactive engineer with a solid background in telecommunications to build the next European space-based secured communications service and join EUSPA in the new European Union venture in Space: IRIS2. IRIS2 is an ambitious programme for space-based secure connectivity which will ensure the long-term availability of reliable, secure and cost-effective satellite communication services. The GOVSATCOM programme, part of the EU Space Programme, has been launched by the European Commission as a first step of the EU secured communications service. It will provide governmental satellite communications services for EU and national public authorities managing security critical missions and infrastructures. EUSPA has a key role in the roll-out of GOVSATCOM and IRIS2, and we are expanding the team that will make them a reality. This position is focusing on the development of the user segment that will exploit these communication services. The work will be carried out in close coordination with the European Commission, initially with frequent trips to Brussels in the frame of an IRIS2 Task Force. The jobholder will be entrusted with the following main tasks and responsibilities: - Analyse and understand secured communication mission and service requirements; - Analyse and understand secured communication user needs and related standards, e.g. 3GPP 5G Non-Terrestrial Network; - Translate user needs and service requirements into secured communications user terminal specifications; - Prepare and follow up on contracts for implementation of receivers; - Coordinate the work of contractors supporting the above activities; - Contribute to internal reporting, and reporting to stakeholders on the status and progress of the activities; - Liaise with other EUSPA departments as needed in relation to the tasks above and notably in the area of Administration, to ensure the execution of related corporate tasks, such as planning, reporting, administration, financial & budget management, risk management; - Contribute to any other tasks of the Department as required.
