We are looking for a creative, growth minded and business sensitive professional with experience in the satellite communication market and its changing ecosystem, ready to join EUSPA in the new European Union venture in Space: IRIS2.
IRIS2 is an ambitious programme for space-based secure connectivity which will ensure the long-term availability of reliable, secure and cost-effective satellite communication services. EUSPA has a key role in the uptake of all EU Space systems through a young and dynamic team working in the development of the market, innovation and space entrepreneurship. We are expanding the team for satellite communications to make IRIS2 a worldwide success.
This position is focusing on the understanding of the satellite communication market and industry, its ongoing changes and new dynamics as well as the innovation ecosystem that will boost IRIS2 uptake. The work will be carried out in close coordination with the European Commission, initially with frequent trips to Brussels in the frame of an IRIS2 Task Force.
The jobholder will be entrusted with the following main tasks and responsibilities:
- Analyse the satellite communication market, focusing on the new and changing dynamics of the sector, including startups, “new space” players and disruptive approaches;
- Develop innovative business cases and financial models aiming at the uptake of IRIS2;
- Analyse and understand in depth the downstream (application) markets of satellite communications, both the governmental and commercial segments;
- Ensure an in depth technical and business understanding of how the IRIS2 services can be translated in end-to-end solutions for both the Governmental and commercial markets, being able of creating synergies with Satellite Navigation (EGNOS and Galileo) and Earth Observation (Copernicus);
- Provide inputs to the market and technology monitoring processes;
- Design and implement roadmaps for uptake in the assigned market segment(s), build and manage the network of users, including the organisation of the User Consultation Platform;
- Support prospective users to justify their investment via testing, pilots, Cost Benefit Analyses etc.;
- Support and provide expertise as part of transversal agile teams to other market experts;
- Manage research and innovation downstream projects in the field of innovative applications and user technology;
- Prepare and manage contracts and liaise with other departments, notably in the area of Administration, to ensure the execution of related corporate tasks, such as planning, reporting, administration, financial & budget management, risk management.
