                                    Field Research Assistant

ICRISAT seeks application from Indian nationals, for the position of ‘ Field Research Assistant – ICRISAT Development Centre’’to support activities of Global Research Program on Resilient Farm and Food Systems (GRP-RF&FS) on Natural Resource Management. There is a requirement of 2 positions where the incumbents will be based atTahrauli, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and will report to Principal Investigator, RF&FS, ICRISAT. As RF&FS involved in number of research and development projects towards Natural Resource Management, this position is intended to support research in farming system.

ICRISAT conducts research on its mandate crops of chickpea, pigeonpea, groundnut, sorghum, pearl millet and finger millet in the arid and semi-arid tropics. The Institute focuses its work on the drylands and in protecting the environment. Tropical dryland areas are usually seen as resource-poor and perennially beset by shocks such as drought, thereby trapping dryland communities in poverty and hunger and making them dependent on external aid. Responsibilities:

·Support multi-disciplinary project team in executing a range of NRM interventions.

·Experimental field data collection on soil, water, nutrient, agronomy and socio-economic parameters

·Undertake crop cutting experiments and sample processing.

Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree in science or ITI/Diploma in science agricultural science or related disciplines
• Candidate should be willing to work with a multidisciplinary team.
• Fluency in oral and writing skill in Hindi is preferred.
• Willing to travel to out location project sites for undertaking research experiments and data collection.

General:

This is a contractual position for a period of 36 months.
