Contracting services of the professional photographers on a Retainer Basis (Only for Uzbekistan nationals)

Provide services of experienced photographers who can provide good quality videography services according to UNICEF global standards to support visual documentation and reporting of issues, events and human-interest stories related to the implementation of Country Program of Cooperation between the Government of Uzbekistan and UNICEF in 2023-2025.

Provide services of experienced photographers who can provide good quality videography services according to UNICEF global standards to support visual documentation and reporting of issues, events and human-interest stories related to the implementation of Country Program of Cooperation between the Government of Uzbekistan and UNICEF in 2023-2025.

The contractor(s) will provide services to all programme sections, as and when required.

UNICEF Country Office in Uzbekistan requires professional photographic services to document the agency’s programme priorities, key interventions and best practices for achieving results for women and children; highlight the progress made by different projects; capture special events; and support with photos a variety of communication materials that promote the rights of women and children.
The photos should be of high quality and resolution so that they can be used for various purposes.

Scope of Work:

• Photo-documentation of the programme activities (human-interest photo-essays, infrastructure where UNICEF has been working, field activities, engagement with communities or beneficiaries), for public dissemination by UNICEF.
• Coverage-photo documentation of events (conferences, trainings, visits, meetings, seminars and other events) for public dissemination by UNICEF.
• Specialized photo sessions on for use in designing public communication materials (in controlled studio-based shoot of celebrities, products, materials to be shown in leaflets, booklets, billboards etc.).

Work Assignments Overview - Deliverables/Outputs - Timeline

1. Photo coverage of events or activities (This can include conferences, trainings, visits, meetings, seminars and other events) for archives or future use by UNICEF - Subsequent deliverables to be agreed with the supervisor - The first cut is to be submitted within two hours the latest during/from the completion of the event/activities.

2. Photo documentaries ranging from pictures for human-interest stories, capturing UNICEF’s processes, field activities, engagement with beneficiaries - Subsequent deliverables to be agreed with the supervisor - First set of ready for use/edited photos to be submitted within two days from сompletion of the photo shooting.

3. Specialized photo sessions (studio-based shoot of celebrities, products, materials to be used in leaflets, booklets, billboards, etc.) - 
Subsequent deliverables to be agreed with the supervisor - First set of ready for use/edited photos to be submitted within two days from сcompletion of the photo shooting.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

• Minimum completed secondary education supported with certified specialized training in photography.
• At least three years of professional experience in photographing of events of different type/scope, preferably in the development and social context.
• Technical expertise and experience in landscape, technical and portrait photography, with proficiency in photo editing skills.
• Experience of working with UNICEF and/or other UN agencies is an asset.
• Intermediate knowledge of English is an advantage.

Reservations and remarks

All materials developed will remain the copyright of UNICEF and cannot be submitted, distributed to or used by any other party. UNICEF will be free to adapt and modify them in the future. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold all or a portion of payment if performance is unsatisfactory, if deliverable(s) incomplete, not finalized or for failure to meet deadlines.

UNICEF will reserve copy right of all developed materials and own primary data collected through this assignment. The materials cannot be published or disseminated without prior written permission of UNICEF. UNICEF will be free to adapt and modify them in the future. The contractor must respect the confidentiality of the information handled during the assignment. Documents and information provided must be used only for the tasks related to these terms of reference.

Selected candidates can be put on the roster for other UN agencies, to be used for assignments of respective agencies.

Resource requirement and payment

UNICEF Uzbekistan will establish the rates based on the type of services and deliverables required, and in alignment with the practices applied by other UN agencies in the country.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

The Consultant will receive direct payment to his/her indicated bank account in Uzbek Sums based on the UN currency exchange rate.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
